Abstract:
Abstract:
A carousel microparticle separating, washing and reading device for application in solid-phase heterogeneous immunoassay systems and methods of use. After suitable immunological reaction in the microparticle containing sample-immunoassay mixture, the application of centrifugal force causes the particles to move through a washing solution and into a detection area where labelled microparticles may be read directly or, following enzymatic reaction of the microparticles with a substrate solution and the consequent formation of product, the product may be detected.
Abstract:
A cytocentrifuge especially suitable for centrifugation of materials requiring handling under conditions of containment is characterised by a plurality of holders each adapted to retain an individual sample chamber in juxtaposition to a receiving surface with interposed filter/seal and removable as a unit from the rotating carrier of the machine. The holder is preferably adapted to be supported tiltingly by the carrier so as only under centrifugal force to permit a sample to contact the receiving surface and while this is perpendicular to the centrifugal load on the sample. The carrier is preferably an apertured plate removable from a drive hub for cleansing and sterilization, and the drive hub forms part of a sealable head assembly of containment bowl and removable cover, the head assembly being removable as a unit for loading/unloading under containment conditions.
Abstract:
A long, thin annular belt-like channel is designed for use in sedimentation field flow fractionation. This channel defined by inner and outer rings 104,102, which may be the rotor of a centrifuge, is designed to mainteain its thickness dimension constant by forming the radially inner wall with a radial thickness t such that the distorting effects of centrifugal force on the inner ring are substantially balanced by the centrifugal pressure of fluid in the flow channel.
Abstract:
A filter for a centrifuge tube including a pressure filter (18) for separating a mixture under centrifugal force. The filter tube (10) is adapted to fit within the upper portion of a standard plastic centrifuge tube (51). The filter tube (10) has a pressure filter (18) at its lower end and an opening (14) at its upper end adapted to be sealed by a cap (55) extending from the centrifuge tube to hold the filter tube (10) securely in position within the centrifuge tube (51). The filter tube (10) is filled with a mixture of permeable and non-permeable materials and when the composite centrifuge tube (51) and filter tube (10) is spun in the centrifuge, the centrifugal force causes the permeable materials to flow through the filter (18) and collect in the bottom (52) of the centrifuge tube (51) while the non-permeable materials are retained in the filter tube (10).
Abstract:
A centrifuge rotor (10) having a base plate (12) with a plurality of support posts (18, 18ʹ) mounted thereon. Each support post receives and supports the radially inner end of a sample container support element (36) formed of a wound composite material. The outer end-turn of the support element receives and supports a sample container. The side walls of the support element are arranged to lie generally radially of the central vertical axis of the rotor.
Abstract:
A centrifuge rotor is characterized by the provision of a force transmitting arrangement operably associated with a sample container or a sample container support housing assembly for transmitting centrifugal force imposed on the sample container to a stress confining enclosure at locations other than the location at which the enclosure is directly loaded.
Abstract:
A chamber block for a centrifuge is provided with an inlet orifice, inlet channel, outlet channel and outlet orifice through which a sample of cells and supernatant may be centrifuged onto a deposition surface. The chamber block includes a recess sized to receive a plug of an absorbant material which withdraws excess supernatant from the deposition surface.
