Abstract:
This invention relates to a method of depositing a polymer film on a substrate. The substrate is placed in a chamber, and an aromatic silane monomer which contain hydrogen only as part of a phenyl group or attached to a silicone atom is supplied to the chamber. The monomer in the chamber is subjected to a radio frequency glow discharge at a substrate temperature from 50°C to 450°C and at a pressure between 4 and 133.32 pascals whereby the monomer is polymerised and deposited on the substrate.
Abstract:
Magnetically responsive microparticles and a method for their production are described. Oppositely charged core particles and magnetite are heterocoagulated, redispersed and optionally coated. The microparticles are colloidally stable and have negligible retentivity. Having now fully described the invention, it will be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art that many changes and modifications can be made thereto without departing form the spirit or scope of the invention as set forth herein.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of applying a multiple-layer enamelling on electrically conductive substrates by electrophoretic deposition of a first coating layer of electrophoretically depositable aqueous coating agents onto which a second coating layer of a first pigment- and/or effect-creating base enamel coating agent is applied wet-in-wet, and the first and second coating layers thus produced are then burned in together; a third coating layer of a second pigment and/or effect-creating base enamel coating agent is then applied, a fourth coating layer of a transparent coating agent is applied wet-in-wet, and the third and fourth coating layers are then burned in together. The total dry layer thickness of the second and third coating layers of base enamel coating agents is between 15 and 40 mu m and the second coating layer accounts for between 20 and 50 % of the combined dry layer thickness of the second and third coating layers.
Abstract:
A method is provided for incorporating lubricant and a sintering aid into a metallurgical powder composition of iron-based powders. A particulate iron-based powder is contacted and wetted with solution of a metal salt of a fatty acid in an organic solvent. The solvent is removed to provide iron-based particles having a coating of the metal salt. The resulting self-lubricated powder composition can be compacted and sintered to produce a compact having superior strength properties.
Abstract:
A method for the continuous manufacture of inlaid vinyl sheeting using different colored pastisols and rotary screen printing equipment. The printing equipment comprises an unwind stand (10), an accumulator (20), a plurality of printing stations (30), a coating station (50), an oven (60), a second accumulator (80), and a wind up stand (90). Optionally an embossing station (70) may also be used. Each printing station (30) comprises (i) a rotary screen (32) through which a different colored pastisol is squeezed to form a colored pattern on a base layer and (ii) a hot air dryer (34) for partially drying the plastisol deposited on the base layer. In accordance with the invention, the viscosity of the plastisol and the rate of drying is such that plugs of plastisol (160, 165) are deposited on the base layer (130) by each screen to form discrete portions of the total pattern created. Several different rotary screens (32) are used to deposit these plugs of colored plastisols (160, 165) on the base layer (130) so as to build up a pattern from the different colored pastisols. Advantageously, a wear coat (140) is deposited on top of the layer of differently colored plastisols so that the final product consists of three layers: a backing (130), a decorative layer of differently colored plugs of plastisol (135), and a wear coat (140).
Abstract:
A manufacturing method of an optical type recording and reproducing disc and the like, comprising the steps of, applying coating liquid to opposite planar surfaces of the disc except for the central portions by rotating the disc with the opposite planar surfaces of the disc being simultaneously dipped in the coating liquid, and thereafter, simultaneously curing the coating liquid applied to the opposite planar surfaces of the disc while rotating the disc.
Abstract:
Process for manufacturing coloured solid articles, e.g. pharmaceutical tablets, bearing at least one highlighted intagliation, which comprises (1) either (A) applying to said articles a film coating suspension comprising at least one defined optically anisotropic substance and at least one film coating agent, or (B) applying to said articles a suspension comprising at least one defined optically anisotropic substance but no film coating agent, and then (2) spraying the resulting articles with a solvent, and in which both of the steps (1) and (2) are carried out in a conventional film coating apparatus.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of providing a flat and smooth layer of polymeric material on a substrate. The prepolymeric material employed in the method according to the invention, when melted, has a viscosity enabling it to flow into all crevices and voids on the surface of said substrate. The method includes the steps of applying a uniform coating of the prepolymer material on said substrate and heating the substrate to melt said prepolymer, whereby said prepolymeric flows on the surface of said substrate to provide a layer of said prepolymeric material having a flat top surface. Subsequent heating cures the prepolymer to form a flat and smooth layer of polymeric material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the production of a multilayered coating on a substrate surface, according to which (A) an aqueous coating composition containing an aqueous polymer dispersion as a film-forming means is applied as a base coating composition to a substrate surface coated with a conventional extender; (B) a suitable, transparent covering coating composition is applied to the resulting base layer; and (C) the base layer is baked along with the covering layer. The process is characterised in that the base coating composition contains an aqueous polymer dispersion which contains (I) an acrylate polymer based on 30 to 60 % by weight of C1-C8-alkyl(meth)acrylate monomers, 30 to 60 % by weight of vinyl aromatic monomers and 0.5 to 10 % by weight of (meth)acrylic acid and (ii) a thickener acting in a non-associative manner and containing an acrylate copolymer based on C1-C6-alkyl(meth)acrylate and (meth)acrylic acid.
Abstract:
A method of treating an outdoor article which comprises forming athin coating on the surface of a hydrophobic synthetic resin coating of an outdoor article by treating the surface with a surface treatment comprising 0.01 - 100 parts by weight of a silane compound (A) having a silanol group formed by hydrolyzing a tetraalkoxysilane or oligomer thereof and 100 parts by weight of a medium. It can prevent streaky stain from occurring in the part where raindrops gather and flow , such as the lower part of a window frame of a building.
