Abstract:
An ultrasound probe is formed with protected interconnects, thereby resulting in a more robust probe. The interconnects are mounted between an array of transducer elements and an integrated circuit. The array of transducer elements are coupled to the interconnect via flip chip bumps or other structures. Underfill material fixedly positions the interconnects to the integrated circuit. A method of making the transducer assembly is provided.
Abstract:
An acoustic telemetry transmitter includes transducer means having internal capacitance coupled with charging means, and switch means arranged to be switched by signals that are dependent upon control signals derived from sensor means and to produce a step response drive signal to the transducer means. The internal capacitance of the transducer means is used as an energy store in the production of a transmission output signal from the transducer means.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention concerns a system for automatically setting a portable object (100) with a clock function. The invention also concerns a portable object (100) with a clock function capable of being automatically set, such as an electronic timepiece. The invention is characterised in that the portable object (100) comprises means for receiving (11) a time-setting sound signal (50) and means (12, 13) for obtaining from said time-setting sound signal (50) time-setting indications (ho, mo) to correct said time indication of the portable object (100). The inventive portable object can advantageously be set via a time-setting sound signal (50) emitted for example through a loudspeaker (202) of a personal computer (200), a television set, a radio set or a telephone handset.
Abstract:
A miniature rangefinder includes a housing, a micromachined ultrasonic transducer, and signal processing circuitry. The housing includes a substrate and a lid. The housing has one or more apertures and the micromachined ultrasonic transducer is mounted over an aperture. The micromachined ultrasonic transducer may function as both a transmitter and a receiver. An integrated circuit is configured to drive the transducer to transmit an acoustic signal, detect a return signal, and determine a time of flight between emitting the acoustic signal and detecting the return signal.

Abstract:
An acoustic transmitter for transmitting an acoustic signal through a downhole medium includes a voltage source; a composite load; and switching circuitry that applies voltage from the voltage source across the composite load in response to a drive signal. The composite load includes charge control circuitry, in the form of at least one inductor, connected electrically in series with a piezoelectric transducer that may be electrically modeled as a capacitor.
