Abstract:
Tyre for motor vehicles, provided with a belt structure (3) interposed circumferentially between the carcass (2) and the tread band (4), and comprising at least one pair of belt plies (5,7) radially superimposed on each other and extending axially substantially by the same amount as said tread band. Each ply (5,7) has a plurality of cords (6,8) orientated obliquely with respect to the equatorial plane of the tyre and in opposite directions, and a reinforcing layer (10) radially external to said at least one pair of belt plies (5,7), having reinforcing elements (11) which are substantially parallel to each other and parallel to the equatorial plane. The reinforcing elements (11) of the 0° layer comprise single metal wires preformed according to a given preforming ratio, which have a high elastic modulus and a considerable elongation at low stresses.
Abstract:
A helical cord having an elliptical shape and the like is manufactured so that a length-to-width ratio or a dimension of a shaped form of the cord to be shaped in a longitudinal direction can be changed. A cord (C) is sequentially passed through through holes (21H, 22H) of stationary and movable shaping bodies (21, 22) opposing each other of a shaping device (20). At that time, the movable shaping body (22) is moved along the stationary shaping body (21) by a moving device so that the through holes (21H, 22H) become eccentric with respect to each other, and the cord (C) passing between the eccentric through holes (21H, 22H) is bent and deformed so as to be shaped. Also, a first and a second displacement mechanism that displace the movable shaping body (22) in X- and Y-directions are provided in the moving device, the movable shaping body (22) is thereby reciprocatingly displaced in the both directions in synchronization by displacement amounts which were set, respectively, the movable shaping body (22) is continuously moved in response to the displacements in the both directions, and thus the passing cord (C) is shaped.
Abstract:
A two-layer cord having a number of wires in the outer layer, enclosing, but not completely, a cord core formed by a plurality of core wires, and in which the core wires are not preformed, while at least some of the outer wires are preformed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a single wire steel cord for reinforcing rubber of a pneumatic tire having improved strength and adhesion to rubber and, more particularly, to a single wire steel cord which includes waveform regions having at least one waveform and non-waveform regions. The single wire steel cord has a high strength characteristic. Accordingly, the amount of steel cord is significantly reduced during manufacturing of a tire. As a result, the weight of the tire is reduced and manufacturing cost is lowered due to a simplified manufacturing process.
