Abstract:
A steel cord (1) comprising a core (3) formed by bundling three or more filaments (2) side by side without twisting and a sheath (5) of at least one layer comprised of plural filaments (4) wound around the core, characterized in that an arrangement of the filaments (2) constituting the core (3) at a section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the core differs between at least a part in the longitudinal direction of the core and the other part thereof, and all filaments (2) constituting the core (3) in all section parts are arranged in a rectangle having a long side of d x (n+1) and a short side of d x (1+1/2 1/2 ) when the diameter of the filament is d and the number of the filaments in the core is n. Such steel cords are used in a belt of a pneumatic tire. Also, these cords are produced by a tubular-type twisting machine having a specified structure.
Abstract:
Low profile radial tires, especially for trucks and buses, reinforced with steel cords which comprise two layers of a core (1) and an outer layer (2), the number of core filaments being 3 or 4 and the number of outer filaments being equal to or less than the number 5 greater than the number of the core filaments, all filaments preferably being substantially equal in diameter and both the core filaments and the outer filaments preferably being twisted in the same direction with a different pitch and aspect ratio of the tire being at highest 0.85.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber product, useful as a reinforcing material for rubber products such as vehicle tires, industrial belts, or the like with extreme flatness and excellent fatigue resistance. SOLUTION: The steel cord of 3+7 structure has three core wires 2a-2c are arranged mutually approximately in parallel and approximately linearly in one direction in a cord cross section. Side wires 4a, 4d and 4g positioned at both end sides in a longitudinal direction in a cord cross section of a core wire group 3 have gaps between them and the core wires 2a and 2c at both end sides of the core wire group 3, side wires 4b, 4c, 4e and 4f positioned off from both end sides of the core wire group 3 are contacted with any one of the core wires 2a-2c and a side wire filling factor defined by a product of the wire diameter and the number of the side wires to length L of a closed curve obtained by sequentially connecting the centers of the adjacent side wires 4a-4g in the circumferential direction by straight lines is 70-90% to provide the steel cord with flatness and excellent fatigue resistance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire that achieves weight saving while enhancing driving stability, durability and productivity.SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire, a belt includes at least one circumferential belt layer and at least one inclined belt layer. A steel cord 10 of the inclined belt layer comprises a core that has two core filaments 11 disposed in parallel without being twisted together, and six sheath filaments 12 that are twisted together around the core. An average distance D between the sheath filaments 12, which is in the range of 25-80 μm, is expressed by the following formula: D=[L-6ds{1+(L/p)}]/6 (where L=(π+2)dc+πds). In the formula, dc represents a diameter of the core filament 11; ds represents a diameter of the sheath filament 12; and p (mm) represents a twist pitch of the sheath filament 12.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a reinforcing material for rubber goods, in which the reinforcing material for rubber goods which is composed of a metallic filament bundle having a flat shape in a cross section can be manufactured without requiring a process for rolling the reinforcing material and a process for bundling the reinforcing material and embedding it in the rubber. SOLUTION: When manufacturing the reinforcing material for rubber goods which is composed of the metallic filament bundle 2 having a flat cross section in which two or more metallic filaments 1 having a round cross section are rowed in parallel, two or more metallic filaments 1 are drawn while arranged in parallel through an elliptic, a track-shaped or a rectangular hole die 10, for obtaining the metallic filament bundle 2 which substantially constitutes one flat cord as a whole. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article satisfying light weight, durability and steering stability simultaneously without causing the reduction of uniformity of a tire by applying it as the reinforcing material of the tire belt, and a pneumatic tire. SOLUTION: This steel cord for reinforcing the rubber article consists of a core arranging 2 pieces of core wires 1 in parallel without stranding them in longitudinal direction and one layer sheath obtained by stranding 3-5 pieces of sheath wires 2 around the core, and the cord outline shape at the cross section crossing at right angle to the cord axis is flat. The diameter of the core wire 1 is smaller than that of the sheath wire 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
