Abstract:
A vessel includes a body having an interior surface that defines an interior space. The vessel further includes a flexible membrane located within the interior space of the vessel. The interior space includes a first chamber at least partially defined by the flexible membrane, and a second chamber at least partially defined by the flexible membrane and a portion of the interior surface of the body. The vessel includes a pressure relief device configured to vent contents of the second chamber to an exterior of the body when the second chamber reaches a first predefined pressure. The flexible membrane is configured to tear or puncture when the first chamber reaches a second predefined pressure that is less than or equal to the first predefined pressure to prevent dangerously high pressures within the first chamber.
Abstract:
Among other things, a gas storage system includes a group of capsules and an activation element coupled to the group. The group of capsules are formed within a substrate and contain gas stored at a relatively high pressure compared to atmospheric pressure. The activation element is configured to deliver energy in an amount sufficient to cause at least one of the capsules to release stored gas.
Abstract:
A composite vessel assembly includes a circumferentially continuous wall and an end cap. The wall includes a plurality of layers, and the end cap includes a plurality of steps. Each step of the plurality of steps is engaged to a respective layer of the plurality of layers.
Abstract:
A pressure vessel fluid manifold assembly includes a pressure vessel having a plurality of lobes joined to each other, each of the plurality of lobes having a wall disposed in contact with an adjacent wall of an adjacent lobe, and wherein the manifold can be external or internal to the lobes.
Abstract:
This invention describes a novel design and construction method for a Collapsible Cryogenic Storage Vessel that can be used for storing cryogenic liquids. The vessel provides the ability to be packed for transport in a compact state and erected at the point of use. The vessel can be used multiple times. The vessel's volume can also be adjusted during use to minimize or eliminate head space in the vessel.
Abstract:
An underwater carbon dioxide storage facility including a carbon dioxide deposit stored underwater as a clathrate includes a flexible barrier disposed at least partially over the carbon dioxide deposit. The carbon dioxide deposit may be stored in or at the bottom of a body of water.
Abstract:
A high-pressure vessel is provided. The high-pressure vessel may comprise a first chamber defined at least partially by a first wall, and a second chamber defined at least partially by the first wall. The first chamber and the second chamber may form a curved contour of the high-pressure vessel. A modular tank assembly is also provided, and may comprise a first mid tube having a convex geometry. The first mid tube may be defined by a first inner wall, a curved wall extending from the first inner wall, and a second inner wall extending from the curved wall. The first inner wall may be disposed at an angle relative to the second inner wall. The first mid tube may further be defined by a short curved wall opposite the curved wall and extending from the second inner wall to the first inner wall.
