    Abstract: An apparatus for checking the alignment of a vehicle frame including a portable horizontal frame having a plurality of pockets or tubular members for receiving a respective gauging element therein. Each of the pockets are mounted as pairs on opposite sides of the framework and additional pockets are provided on lateral members and the ends of the frame. The plurality of gauging elements may assume a variety of designs depending on the particular vehicle being checked. The gauging elements are utilized not only to establish proper orientation of the horizontal frame with respect to the vehicle frame but to indicate automatically the degree of misalignment thereof. The respective gauging elements are retained within the pockets by either a pair or removable pins which effect removable secure retention of the gauge therein, by a single lower removable pin which permits pivotal movement of the gauge relative to the pocket or by free floating positioning within a pocket.

    Abstract: A linear preload fluid power operated latch (10) has two coaxial pistons (42 , 44), one (44) slidable inside the other (42) and the other (42) slidable within a cylinder (40). The one piston (44) slides inside the other (42) to cam dogs (30) which are slidable in slo ts of a nose (28) which is secured to the other piston (42) so as to engage an undercut (29) in a cu p in which the nose (28) is received. After the dogs (30) are engaged in the cup (20), which secures the latch (10), both pistons (42, 44) are retracted to apply a linear preload force between the two bodies (14, 15) being latched. In one embodiment (22; 322), the pistons (42, 44; 342, 344) a re moved in both directions under fluid pressure and in another embodiment (122; 222), both pistons (142, 144) are returned by compression springs (170, 172, 174; 270, 272, 274). In eithe r case, the cup (20; 320) is drawn closer to the cylinder (40, 140, 240, 340) with a certain preload force, to latch a body (14) to which the cup (20; 320) is attached to a second body (15) to which the cylinder (40, 140, 240, 340) is attached with that preload force. An elastomeric isolator (32; 332) is interposed between the one body (14) and the cup (20; 320) so as to attenuate the transmission of vibrations from the cup (20; 320) to the body (14) or vice versa, and also to provide lateral and vertical compliance for helping to align the cup (20; 320) and locking unit (22; 122; 222; 322) with one another.

    Abstract: A connection between a fluid line and a connecting element, in which at one end the line has an insertion part, and the connecting element is provided with an bore for accommodating the insertion part of the line, in which the line is provided with a locking shoulder, and in which the connecting element is designed to accommodate a locking element, which locking element when fitted covers the locking shoulder of the line, so that the insertion part of the line is locked in the bore of the connecting element, in which the bore, viewed in the insertion direction of the insertion part has a first part with a first diameter and connecting thereto a second part with a second diameter which is smaller than the first diameter. At the bore of the connecting element an receiving element for the locking element is fitted immovably, which receiving element has a through axial bore connecting to the bore, in such a way that the insertion part of the line projects through the axial bore of the receiving element and projects into the bore of the connecting element. The receiving element is provided with an outward projecting annular flange which fits into the first part of the bore. The annular flange of the receiving element is fixed in the first part of the bore by deformation of the connecting element.

    Abstract: A tilt cab latch (10) has a piston (78) which is biased to cam on a rotor (5 0) to capture and exert a preload force on a pin (14). The end of the piston (78) is formed by cylindrical and conical surfac es (82, 80) which match respective internal cylindrical and angled cylindrical surfaces (84, 86) on the rotor (50). The conical and angled cylindrical surfaces (80, 86) cam on one another to exert the preload force on the pin (14), and the cylindrical surfaces (82 , 84) provide positive locking against retrograde rotation of the rotor (50).
