In order to reduce a number of parts and required costs, and to improve operability during assembly and maintenance, the automatic original cover closer comprises hinge portions having a supporting member which supports the original cover to be opened and closed with regard to a main body of an office equipment and a driving portion automatically driving the supporting member of the hinge portions. The automatic original cover closer is characterized in that the supporting member is rotatably supported via a rotation shaft on a mounting member attached to the main body, that the driving portion comprises a driving motor and a driving force transmitting mechanism for transmitting a rotation drive force of the driving motor to the rotation shaft, and that the rotation shaft is adjusted so that its rotation drive force can be transmitted to the supporting member via a shaft engaging members fixedly attached thereto.

The invention relates to a motor-driven device for actuating a movable panel (1) of a motor vehicle, including: a drive unit (3); a transmission element (5) which is to be set into motion by the motor unit (3); a braking module (7) for the transmission element (5), characterized in that the braking module (7) is connected to the transmission element (5) by a clutch module (9) positioned between the transmission element (5) and the drive unit (3), and comprising a wound spring (35) in friction contact with a brake shaft (23) connected to the braking module (7), as well as two coupling elements (25, 27) that are mutually engaged with a functional clearance therebetween, the relative change in position of said two coupling elements (25, 27) enabling the ends (37, 38) of said wound spring (35) to be controlled so as to switch the ends between an engaged position and a disengaged position of the braking module (7), wherein the two coupling elements (25, 27) are a drive element and a driven element, respectively.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic original pressing plate opening/closing device which can be reduced in number of parts and in cost. SOLUTION: The automatic original pressing plate opening/closing device is provided with: a hinge part 4 having a support member 42 supporting an original pressing plate, so as to open and close it with respect to the machine body of a business machine; and a driving part 5 automatically operating the support member 42 of the hinge part 4. The support member 42 is journaled by an attachment member 41 attached to the machine body, to be rotatable through a rotating shaft 46. The driving part 5 has a driving motor and a driving force transmission mechanism transmitting the rotational driving force of the driving motor to the rotating shaft 46. The rotating shaft 46 is configured so as to transmit the rotational driving force to the support member 42 through shaft engaging members 15 and 16 fixed and attached to the supporting member 42. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compact the whole device in a braking device for applying the brake to the movement of a door. SOLUTION: A hollow shaft 14 is rotatably inserted through a body 7 storing a brake fluid. A spiral rod 8 is inserted in the hollow shaft 14, and the hollow shaft and the spiral rod are screw-engaged. An outer surface of the hollow shaft 14 is provided with a resistor 20 located in the brake fluid. The body 7 is fixed to an opening frame, and the spiral rod 8 is fixed to the door. When the door is opened/closed, the spiral rod 8 is linearly reciprocated in an axial direction. A damped hinge comprising: a first leaf (32) for securing the hinge to a fixed support; a second leaf (35) for securing a moveable closure to the hinge; a barrel (33) secured to the first leaf (32), the barrel (33) including an axial bore (34); a piston (30) mounted for axial movement within the bore (34), the piston (30) including a cam surface (45); an axially extending member (39) constrained to rotate with the second leaf (35), the member (39) including a cam follower (42) arranged to engage the cam surface (45); the cam surface extending axially so that the piston (30) moves axially within the bore as the second leaf is rotated in relation to the first leaf; a hydraulic fluid contained within the bore (34); at least one of the piston (30) and member (39) including a passageway through which the hydraulic fluid may flow as the piston moves within the bore; wherein the passageway includes an adjustable valve (48, 49) to restrict the flow of fluid to damp opening or closing of the hinge.
