Abstract:
In cold flow processing of metals, especially steel, coatings of transition metal halogenides, especially FeCl3, have proved suitable because they efficiently counteract cold welding problems. The coatings may be applied in the form of a melt or a saturated or diluted, aqueous solution of the transition metal halogenide. If a melt is used, it may be mixed with one or more common solid lubricants such as MoS2, graphite, or the like.
Abstract:
The present invention provides lubricant compositions for the powder metallurgical field. The lubricant compositions contain a solid phase lubricant such as graphite, molybdenum disulfide, and polytetrafluoroethylene in combination with a liquid phase lubricant that is a binder for the solid phase lubricant. The binder can be chosen from various classes of compounds including polyethylene glycols, polyethylene glycol esters, partial esters of C3-6 polyhydric alcohols, polyvinyl esters, and polyvinyl pyrrolidones. The binder is solubilized in an organic solvent.
Abstract:
A solid lubricant additive for resin-bound friction lining mixtures is characterised in that it contains a combination of copper-I-sulphide (Cu2S) with at least another sulphide of molybdenum, zinc, antimony, wolfram, tin and/or titanium.
Abstract:
A rubber or plastic sliding member coated with a material having excellent durability and high slipperiness, wherein the coating material is composed of a solid lubricant such as molybdenum disulfide and a resin matrix comprising a fluoroolefin vinyl ether polymer resin and/or a fluoroolefin vinyl ether/vinyl ester copolymer resin.
Abstract:
A lubricant additive that includes antimony thioantimonate and antimony trioxide in a specified ratio for enhancing the extreme pressure, antiwear, and antiabrasive properties of conventional lubricants as well as for use in lubrication of a wide variety of lubricated contact surfaces.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a steel wire rod having a lubricating coating film, which can achieve both workabilities such as wire drawability, spike property and ball ironing property, and corrosion resistance such as long-term rust prevention property; and a method for producing the same. Disclosed are a steel wire rod having a coating film containing no phosphorus, wherein the coating film includes a lower layer coating film composed of oxide and/or hydroxide of zirconium and having a film thickness of 1.0 to 200 nm, and an upper layer coating film containing silicon and tungsten, in order from a steel wire rod side, a mass ratio of tungsten/silicon being in a range of 1.3 to 18; and a method for producing the above steel wire rod, which includes bringing an aqueous chemical conversion treatment solution, which has a pH in a range of 2.5 to 5.0 and contains a water-soluble zirconium compound dissolved therein, into contact with a surface of a steel wire rod to form a lower layer coating film.
Abstract:
A friction control composition having high and positive frictional properties for sliding steel surfaces includes a water insoluble hydrocarbon that enables a reduced water content, a rheological additive, a freezing point depressant, a friction modifier, and a lubricant.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heat pump systems wherein the composition comprises a tetrafluoropropene and at least one other component. The compositions of the present invention are useful in processes for producing cooling or heat, as heat transfer fluids, foam blowing agents, aerosol propellants, and fire suppression and fire extinguishing agents.
Abstract:
A system and method of processing an alloy ingot or other alloy workpiece to reduce thermal cracking and reduce friction between the workpiece and the forging die may generally comprise positioning a multi-layer pad between the workpiece and the forging die. An article for processing an alloy ingot or other alloy workpiece to reduce thermal cracking also is disclosed. The present disclosure also is directed to an alloy workpieces processed according to the methods described herein, and to articles of manufacture including or made from alloy workpieces made according to these methods.
