Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extra fine plated steel wire having excellent adhesiveness to rubber, whose productivity is not impaired, whose drawing workability is not degraded, and which has excellent adhesiveness to rubber with Co salt not blended therein, and whose adhesive strength is less degraded even with the lapse of time.SOLUTION: The extra fine plated steel wire has a double layer plating on its surface. The wire diameter is 0.1-0.4 mm. The double layer plating of the extra fine plated steel wire having excellent adhesiveness to rubber includes a covering Cu plating having the average thickness of 20-500 nm provided on the surface of the steel wire, an adhesive Cu plating of the average thickness of 10-50 nm provided on the outermost layer, and a diffusion preventive layer provided between the covering Cu plating and the adhesive Cu plating. The diffusion preventive layer is preferably any one of an Ni, Co and Cr plating layers of the average thickness of 2-25 nm.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing rubber having excellent adhesiveness to the rubber without deteriorating working environments. SOLUTION: The steel cord for reinforcing the rubber is obtained by treating the surface of a plated steel cord with a solution prepared by dissolving a compound containing a di-substituted or a tri-substituted benzene ring having at least one hydroxy group as a substituent. The compound containing the substituted benzene ring is preferably a compound represented by formula (I) [wherein, X is a hydroxy group, a carboxyl group or a COOC m H 2m+1 (wherein, m is an integer of 1-5); Y is located at the 2-, 4-, 5- or 6-position and is a hydrogen, a hydroxy group or a substituent represented by formula (II) {wherein, Z 1 and Z 2 are each independently a hydroxy group, a carboxyl group or a COOC n H 2n+1 (wherein, n is an integer of 1-5); and p is an integer of 1-7}]. Abstract:
A steel cord for the reinforcement of thermoplastic elastomers, the steel cord including more than one strand, each strand including two or more steel filaments, at least some of said the steel filaments being provided with a zinc coating. The zinc coating has a thickness lower than two micrometer and an alloy layer zinc-steel is present between the zinc coating and the steel.
Abstract:
An elongated steel element adapted for the reinforcement of rubber products is covered with a ternary alloy or quaternary alloy coating of copper-M-zinc. M is one or two metals selected out of the group consisting of cobalt, nickel, tin, indium, manganese, iron, bismuth and molybdenum. The copper content inside the coating ranges from 58 weight percent to 75 weight percent. The content of the one or two metals inside said coating ranges from 0.5 weight percent to 10 weight percent. The remainder is zinc and unavoidable impurities. The one or two metals are present throughout the coating. Phosphorus is present on and/or in the coating in an amount of more than 1 and less than 4 milligram per square meter of the coating. The coating further comprises one or, ore compounds which complex with the copper in the coating to form an insoluble film on its surface. Good results are obtained for steam ageing and cured humidity adhesion. Furthermore, a corresponding method for manufacturing such an elongated steel element is disclosed.
