Abstract:
A screening machine (10) of the type used to separate or classify mixtures of solid particles of different sizes includes a fixed base and a perforate screen mounted for movement relative to the base during a screening operation. The screens are pre-tensioned and mounted in a perimeter frame (54) for separating various granular and particulate material. The frame (54) is slid into the side of the machine in a direction parallel with two opposing bevel lips at the ends of the frame (54) which mate in the screening machine (10) with a complementary channel (82) such that when the screen is raised into sealing contact in the screening machine (10), the bevel ends of the screen panel frame (54) align the screen panel (28) in the machine. The bevels on the screen panel frame (54) provide a positive sealing surface for contact with the adjacent portions of the channel (82) to prevent product from escaping off of the screen during use. The sealing contact of the screen panel (28) is enhanced by a seal member on the screen panel (28).

A screening machine (10) includes a vibratory carrier (44) and a vibratory drive operatively coupled to the vibratory carrier (44) for imparting vibratory motion thereto. The screening machine (10) includes a screen assembly selectively coupled to the vibratory carrier (44) so that the vibratory motion is transmitted to the screen assembly. A sealing mechanism including at least one rotary cam having a cam surface and at least one actuator being accessible to a user of said screening machine (10) is coupled to the rotary cam. Actuation of the actuator to rotate the cam urges the screen assembly and the carrier into sealing engagement with a confronting surface of the screening machine (10). The screening machine (10) further includes at least one stop positioned relative to the sealing mechanism to limit rotational movement of the rotary cam in at least one direction.

A method for replacing a screen in a shale shaker including activating at least one decoupling apparatus, wherein a magnetic clamping system includes the at least one decoupling apparatus, removing at least one screen from the shale shaker, deactivating the at least one coupling apparatus, and installing at least one screen into the shale shaker is also disclosed.

A screening panel (14) for screening apparatus (10) is described. The screening panel is removably secured to a deck member (12). The screening panel comprises a base part and a top member (30) which rests on and is separate from the base part. Thus when the top member is worn it can be removed from the base part and replaced by a fresh member.

An assembly for sealing a shaker screen assembly in a shaker separator includes a substantially inflexible gasket affixed to each screen support and a flexible gasket affixed to each screen support such that the screen frame rests atop the gaskets on the support around its periphery. A wedge block retainer bracket is affixed to each side wall of the shaker separator above the corresponding section of the screen frame. A wedge block is selectively drivable into the space between the wedge block retainer bracket and the corresponding section of the screen frame, providing force thereto sufficient to seat the screen frame against the inflexible gasket and to compress the flexible gasket between the screen frame and the screen support, thereby providing a substantially fluid tight seal. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
