Abstract: A method and apparatus for down-the-hole drilling. The drilling is carried out by a drilling device including a casing and a drilling unit. The drilling head includes a first drill for drilling a center hole, a second drill for reaming the center hole and a flushing flow arrangement including a first flusher for leading a flushing medium onto a drilling surface and a second flusher for returning of the flushing medium and drilling waste inside the casing. The first drill is removably coupled with the second drill to enable removal thereof from the hole. The casing is arranged to be drawn into a hole to be drilled by the drilling unit. The flushing medium is brought onto the drilling surface and returned therefrom by axially directed flow arrangements disposed in a cross-section view on an outer periphery of the first drill and/or in an inner periphery of the second drill.

Abstract: An improved pneumatic valve 300 employing flexi-seals 302 is disclosed. The flexi-seals 302 are annular shaped with non-circular cross-section and are fitted in peripheral groves in plunger 304 of the valve such that a portion of the flexi-seal 302 projects out of the outer circumference of the plunger 304. As the plunger 304 is moved towards a valve seat, the projecting portion of the flexi-seal 302 rests against a flat surface of the valve seat to close the passage through the valve seat. The flexi-seal design prevents plurality of bends in the flow passages of the valve, results in reduced friction during the linear movement of the plunger 304, eliminates movement of seals over edges of cross holes in the plunger bore 306. Besides the flexi-sealsare flexible, do not permanently deform, and do not require lubricating media, thereby overcoming drawbacks of conventional seals used in such valves.

Abstract: A screening machine (10) of the type used to separate or classify mixtures of solid particles of different sizes includes a fixed base (22) and a perforate screen deck (39) mounted for movement relative to the base (22) during a screening operation. Leaf springs (42) connect the tail end (40) of the screen deck (39) to the fixed base (22) so that the leaf springs (42) support the tail end of screen deck (39) for movement relative to the base (22). The leaf springs (42) are oriented horizontally to avoid introducing vertical movement to the screen deck (39) as it moves to and from the head and tail ends (16, 22). The leaf springs (42) are offset or deflected when the machine (10) is at rest or in the neutral mid-point of its stroke. This arrangement advantageously utilizes the bias of the leaf springs (42) to accelerate, assist or enhance movement of the screen deck (39) during portions of its stroke and likewise to decelerate, hinder or retard the movement during other portions of its stroke. With an appropriate offset, an increase in the effectiveness of the screening process (i.e., fewer defective particles passing through the screen deck) while a decrease in the screening time is attained.

Abstract: Disclosed is a clamp (7) for securing the top cover (3) of a screening machine (1). Clamping is not subject to galling or seizing and the force exerted is not temperature or displacement dependent. The clamp (7) is air pressure operated, with super-atmospheric pressure being applied for clamping and venting to atmosphere or sub-atmospheric pressure being applied to release the clamp. The clamp is mounted for easy swing away movement when not in use so as to permit the top cover (3) to be removed. Multiple clamps (7, 7) may be simultaneously operated from a common manifold (10).
