Abstract:
A steel cord (4) for reinforcing rubber articles and a pneumatic radial tire (10) having a belt layer (14) using the same, in which the steel cord comprises a crimped-curled core (2) made of a steel filament wave-shaped in a plane (crimped) and turned (curled) and 5 - 8 sheath filaments (3) wound around the core in the same direction as the turn direction of the core. The wavelength λc of core-crimp is preferably defined as 8dc≦ λc ≦ 30dc when the diameter of the core filament is dc, and the turn-number nc of the core around the center axis of the core per one wave-length of the core-crimp is preferably defined as 0.12 ≦nc≦ 0.85 (turn/pitch). Since the core filament is three-dimensional, the core periphery in cross-section is lengthened and the rubber penetration property is remarkably enhanced so that the resistance to cut separation indicating tire durability is enhanced. The space between cords can be lengthened when the strength is constant and the resistance to BES is enhanced. Productivity is better than that of core crimped cord.
Abstract:
A steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles comprises one wave-form or helical core steel filament and a plurality of sheath steel filaments disposed around the core steel filament, the pitch Pc of the core steel filament is 3.0 dc/0.34 ≦ Pc ≦ 10.0 dc/0.34 (dc = diameter of steel core filament) and the core forming ratio Rc = Lc/dc (Lc is an amplitude of the wave or helix of the core steel filament) is within a particular range varying depending on the number of sheath steel filaments. The rubber articles containing the steel cord have an improved resistance to corrosion propagation and a high strength. A pneumatic tire is reinforced with the above-mentioned steel cord and contains a cross belt layer where (i) an angle 0 formed by a reinforcing steel cord and the equatorial plane of the tire is : (ii) a gap between adjacent two steel cords in the same layer, I, is : (iii) a gauge of the gum between two facing cords, G, is : The pneumatic tire exhibits suppression of development of crack at the belt end in addition to the advantages as above.
Abstract:
The present invention is composed by intertwisting at least one material wire having small about spiral curls and 1 to 5 material wires having straightness thus restricting the ratio of fracture elongation of the two kinds of material wires as well as the elongation of cord at 5 kg loading and improves the stability of twist, the fatigue resistance, the penetrability of rubber compound and the handling workability.
Abstract:
A metallic cable (10) comprises a strand of identical helical shaped filaments (11, 12, 13) positioned beside and against each other such that each filament of the strand is in line contact with at least one other filament of the strand. The helixes of the filaments of the strand are sloped in a first direction. A single filament (14) is twisted with the strand in a direction opposite to said first direction. An apparatus and a method for manufacturing the metallic cable are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The process according to the present invention for forming flexible tubular bodies (12) obtained by the laying-up of a plurality of metallic shaped members (5), permanently deformed according to helicoids, provides to give the helical configuration to the single shaped members through the following two steps. Each shaped member(5) is firstly permanently deformed around their own longitudinal axis by torsional stresses. Subsequently, each shaped member (5) is permanently deformed through a bending with respect to a plane parallel to the greater faces of the shaped member (5) itself. The present invention comprises also a device for carrying into effect said process.
