Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes identifying, while the UE is in a connected mode with a network, a radio resource configuration of the UE, selecting a dedicated set of resources for the UE or a common set of resources for a plurality of UEs based at least in part on the identified radio resource configuration, and transmitting a pilot signal to the network using the selected set of resources. Methods for wireless communication at a network access device and a network access device controller are also described.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a wireless device that communicates with another wireless device utilizing self-contained subframes. The wireless device communicates with a scheduling entity utilizing a plurality of self-contained subframes that include a first subframe and a second subframe. Each of the self-contained subframes includes an uplink (UL) portion and a downlink (DL) portion. The wireless device further receives DL control information from the scheduling entity in the DL portion of the first subframe, and transmits UL data that includes a plurality of reference signal bursts to the scheduling entity in the UL portion of the first subframe. Abstract: A system and method for mobility tracking of user equipment in a network includes a user equipment. The user equipment includes an antenna for receiving and sending signals to a plurality of network nodes in a network and a processor coupled to the antenna. The processor is configured to broadcast, using the antenna, a pilot signal to advertise the user equipment, receive, using the antenna, a pilot response from a first network node acting as a serving node for the user equipment, and communicate with the network through the serving node. The pilot signal includes a reference sequence for the network nodes to track followed by a payload including information about an identity of the user equipment. In some embodiments, the reference sequence varies based on a state of the user equipment. In some embodiments, the reference sequence is randomly selected.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for enabling at least one opportunity to transmit mission critical (MiCr) data and at least one opportunity to receive MiCr data in a time division duplex (TDD) subframe during a single transmission time interval (TTI). The single TTI may be no greater than 500 microseconds. The TDD subframe may be a downlink (DL)-centric TDD subframe or an uplink (UL)-centric TDD subframe. How much of the TDD subframe is configured for the at least one opportunity to transmit the MiCr data and how much of the TDD subframe is configured for the at least one opportunity to receive the MiCr data may be adjusted based on one or more characteristics of the MiCr data. The MiCr data may have a low latency requirement, a high priority requirement, and/or a high reliability requirement. Various other aspects are provided throughout the present disclosure.

Abstract: Discovery and synchronization channels are discussed for user-tracking zones in a cellular network. User-tracking zones reduce the mobility tracking burden on the UE and shift the tracking responsibility to the network. This shift allows for UE and network power savings from reduced searching at the UE as well as through efficient paging area tracking and less broadcast signaling. The various aspects provide channel design for initial synchronization and discovery of the user-tracking zones. A single frequency network (SFN) synchronization channel is provided with at least a reference signal for time synchronization and payload information that may include a zone identifier (ID), formatting for a system information transmission request, and resource allocation for the request. The zone ID may be included in the payload or embedded into the reference signal. Facility is also provided for handling zone nodes of different power classes that allows for maintaining the SFN operations.
