Es wird ein Verfahren zum Verbinden zweier sich kreuzender Stäbe (1) und (2) in einem Kreuzungsbereich (3) und eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens beschrieben. Das Wesentliche liegt darin, daß ein zangenartiges Werkzeug (14) vorgesehen ist, dessen Zangenarme (23, 24) mehrere Öffnungs- und Schließbewegungen durchführen. Es ist ein Schubkopf (30) vorgesehen, der in seinem Inneren einen Greifer (81) lagert, der eine Verdrillverbindung (84) eines Drahtes (63) um den Kreuzungsbereich bewirkt, wobei die Verdrillbewegung bei geschlossenen und stillstehenden Zangenarmen im Bereich des Schubkopfes erfolgt.

Thixotrope Zubereitungen in unterschiedlichsten Anwendungsbereichen enthalten Siliciumdioxid als verdickende oder thixotropierende Komponente, die flüssigen Systemen zugesetzt ist. In manchen Zubereitungen neigt die Kieselsäure zum Absetzen. In Zubereitunggen, welche selbst stärkere H-Brückenbildungen ausbilden, kann der Thixotropie gebende Effekt von SiO₂ wesentlich geschwächt werden. Die neuen thixotropen Zubereitungen sollen Hilfsmittel enthalten, die das Siliciumdioxid aktivieren bzw. dessen Wirkung verstärken. Die thixotropen Zubereitungen mit einem Gehalt an hochdispersem Siliciumdioxid enthalten als zusätzliche Komponente hydroxyfunktionelle Carbonsäureamide der Formel I Verwendung der Verbindungen der Formel I zum Thixotropieren von flüssigen Zubereitungen und hochdisperses Siliciumdioxid, das mit Verbindungen der Formel I beschichtet ist.

Provided is a water-based lubricating coating agent for a metal material, capable of carrying out a chemical conversion treatment and a lubrication treatment at the same time, which makes it possible to achieve excellent lubricity even in plastic working, press molding, and the like, and at the same time, operability (e.g., process shortening, sludge reduction). The water-based lubricating coating agent having pH of 2.0 to 6.5 for a metal material is obtained by blending: at least one lubricating component other than black-based solid lubricants; and at least one chemical conversion component selected from the group consisting of a phosphoric acid compound, an oxalic acid compound, a molybdic acid compound, a zirconium compound, and a titanium compound, the concentration of the lubricating component is 5 mass% or more in mass ratio to the total solid content mass in the lubricating coating agent, and the concentration of the chemical conversion component is 0.3 to 8 mass% when the total mass of the lubricating coating agent is regarded as 100 mass%.

A method for improving wear control in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and encapsulated microscale particles, as a minor component. The minor component contains no sulfur or phosphorus. The encapsulated microscale particles include an encapsulating material and a core material encapsulated by the encapsulating material. The core material includes at least one metal salt selected from a metal oxide, metal hydroxide, metal carbonate, or mixtures thereof. The encapsulating material is derived from a carboxylic acid selected from an aliphatic carboxylic acid, a cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid, an aromatic carboxylic acid, and mixtures thereof. The lubricating oils are useful in internal combustion engines.

[Problems] To provide a lubricating coating agent for plastic working, containing a non-black solid lubricating material, and a metal material coated with the agent, which enable highly difficult forging that has been conventionally difficult to practically apply to anything except lubricating coating films containing a black solid lubricant typified by molybdenum disulfide [Means for solving] The problems can be achieved by means of a lubricating coating agent for plastic working, which is characterized by containing, at 5 mass% or more in terms of solid content ratio in a coating film, a calcium sulfate hydrate with a particular scale-like crystal shape among calcium sulfate hydrates deposited by reacting a sulfuric acid or a sulfate with a calcium compound in water, and a metal material coated with the agent.

Organoclay compositions which comprise the reaction product of a smectite-type clay having an ion exchange capacity of at least 50 meq. wt. per 100 g. clay (active basis), and a branched chain quaternary ammonium compound are useful self-activating and self-dispersing additives to liquid organic systems such as grease and ink formulations. Also included are grease and ink formulations using these organoclay compositions.
