Abstract:
Implants for delivery of therapeutic agents such as opioids, and the manufacture and uses of such implants are provided. In particular, subcutaneous drug delivery systems having a biocompatible thermoplastic elastomeric polymer matrix, a therapeutic agent embedded homogeneously in said matrix, and a biocompatible drug impermeable cross-linked silicone polymer coating said matrix and methods of making the same are provided.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are presented to facilitate caching of programming from broadcast and/or content streaming services to a user device for local playback. In addition, metadata can be provided to guide the user in selecting, caching, or playing the cachable content. In some exemplary embodiments, a receiver or other user device can automatically select the programming to be cached based on a user's historical topic interest and listening history. In some exemplary embodiments, the metadata can also include DRM information that can limit the ability of a user to playback the content, so as to comply, if necessary, with operative legal requirements related to usage of the content.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a bioreactor having a reactor chamber and one or more support chambers. The reactor chamber can have one or more flexible walls for enclosing microorganisms and culture medium. The reactor chamber provides an enclosure for microorganism and culture medium. The support chamber can also have one or more flexible walls. When inflated to a predetermined amount, the support chamber causes the microorganisms and culture medium to distribute to a substantially even depth across the reactor chamber.
Abstract:
A drill system for use with a drill rod includes a support member, and a drill assembly movably associated with the support member and configured to be connected to the drill rod. The system further includes a centralizing device movably associated with the support member and configured to receive the drill rod. The centralizing device includes a movable jaw and a latch arm connected to the jaw and configured to move the jaw between an open position and a closed position for retaining the drill rod. Furthermore, the latch arm has a locking feature configured to hold the latch arm in a locked position to thereby hold the jaw in the closed position.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes an electronic memory device comprising a memory line including a memory domain. The memory line may contain a number of memory domains and a number of fixed domains, wherein each memory domain stores a single binary bit value. A multiferroic element may be disposed proximate to each memory domain allowing the magnetization of the memory domain to be changed using a spin torque current, and ensuring the stability of the magnetization of the domain when it is not being written. The domain boundary between the memory domain and one of its adjacent fixed domains may thereby be moved. An antiferromagnetic element may be disposed proximate to each fixed domain to ensure the stability of the magnetization of these. The value of each memory domain may be read by applying a voltage to a magnetic tunnel junction comprising the memory domain and measuring the current flowing through it.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and compositions for identifying, producing, and using pathologically-activated targeting compounds. Pathologically- activated compounds are compound that only have an effect, or have a disproportionate effect, on a target molecule when a pathological condition exists.
Abstract:
The present invention provides photobioreactors, solar energy gathering systems, and methods for thermal control of a culture medium containing a prototrophic organism in a photobioreactor, that allow temperature control in a cost effective manner, reducing the energy required for temperature control of a culture medium containing phototrophic microorganisms in a photobioreactor.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a process producing a therapeutic comestible gummie product, the process comprises providing a sugar and/or sugar alcohol, water and heating to at least 80°C to produce a first mixture. A gelling agent and water is also provided and heat to at least 80°C to produce a second mixture. Combining the first and second mixtures to produce a slurry. The slurry is heated to at least 112°C to produce a gummie base. The gummie base is cooled to an optimal temperature of below 90°C for the addition of an active drug and the active drug is substantially uniformly mixed with the gummie base. In some embodiments the active is drug is mixed with an ingestible oil and added to the cooling slurry. The gummie base and active drug mixture is then poured into molding trays and allowed to cure. Also disclosed herein by way the process of the present disclosure is therapeutic comestible gummie product. Furthermore, the present disclosure comprises a therapeutic comestible gummie product comprising ibuprofen and/or other active drug(s).
