A coating composition comprises an anhydride polymer (A) containing a least two cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride functional groups and a polymer (B) containing at least two functional groups reactive with anhydride groups and selected from hydroxyalkylamino, hydroxyalkoxyalkylamino, hydroxy-substituted acyloxyalkylamino, hydroxy-substituted polyacyloxyalkylamino, mercaptoalkylamino and oxazolidino groups. One of the polymers (A) and (B) comprises at least one flexible polymer chain selected from polyether, polyester, silicone, diene polymer, hydrogenated diene polymer, polyurethane, polyisobutylene and polyacrylate chains. The functional groups characteristic of that polymer are each present as a terminal group at the end of a flexible polymer chain.

Provided herein are aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions can comprise a first copolymer derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and a second carboxy-functional copolymer derived from one or more carboxylic acid-containing monomers. The aqueous dispersions can be used to prepare low- or zero-VOC aqueous coating compositions that possess desirable properties, including good block resistance and scrub resistance. Coatings and coating formulations comprising the aqueous dispersion, as well as methods of making and using the same are also provided.

To provide a process for producing a powder coating material capable of forming a cured film which is excellent in weather resistance and which has few voids (gaps); a coated article having a cured film which is excellent in weather resistance and which has few voids; and a method for producing a carboxy group-containing fluororesin less susceptible to gelation. A process for producing a powder coating material containing a powder (X) composed of a composition (±) comprising a fluororesin (A) having carboxy groups, or alkoxysilyl groups and urethane bonds, and a curing agent (D), said process comprising (a) a step of melt-kneading a mixture comprising a hydroxy group-containing fluororesin (B), an acid anhydride (C1) or a compound (C2) having an alkoxysilyl group and an isocyanate group, and the curing agent (D), to obtain a kneaded product composed of the composition (±), and (b) a step of pulverizing the kneaded product to obtain the powder (X).

Disclosed is an aqueous composition for surface coating, including: a main ingredient comprising a first compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group and combinations thereof, per molecule; a curing agent comprising a second compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of an aziridine group, an isocyanate group, a carbodiimide group and combinations thereof, per molecule; and an aqueous solvent. Further, an automotive sheet using the aqueous composition for surface coating is disclosed.
