Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipe formed of a pin and a box having a contact surface including threaded parts and a non-threaded metal contact part and capable of stably assuring a seizure resistance and an airtightness without applying compound grease thereto, wherein a solid lubricating film formed with lubricating powder (example: molybdenum disulfide) and organic or inorganic binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and box, the ratio of the area occupied by the secondary particles of 15 to 60 mu m in equi-area equivalent diameter of the lubricating powder in the cross section of the solid lubricating film in thickness direction is 5 to 90%, and fiber-like filler (example: inorganic substance whisker) in addition to the lubricating powder is mixed into the solid lubricating film at the mass ratio of the fiber-like filler to binder of 0.01 to 0.5, whereby, particularly, the seizure resistance at high temperatures can be improved.
Abstract:
The retainer (20) of the present invention is made of a composite material having a body made from a polymer, a layer of solid lubricant formed over the body by chemically coating the body with a porous layer of solid lubricant and impregnating the solid lubricant with another lubricant using conventional methods such as vacuum impregnation. The retainer (20) is placed between an outer raceway (32) and an inner raceway (34) to form a self-lubricating bearing (30). The bearing (30) made in this manner has high lubrication tolerance (i.e. it performs well in the absence of external lubrication). Because of its high lubrication tolerance, the bearing is suitable for use in various applications such as dental/medical hand pieces that are periodically sterilized and other applications which occasionally experience periods of lubrication starvation.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a new composite material comprising a porous matrix made of metal, metal alloy or semiconducting material and hollow fullerene-like nanoparticles of a metal chalcogenide compound or mixture of such compounds. The composite material is characterized by having a porosity between about 10 % and about 40 %. The amount of the hallow nanoparticles in the composite material is 1-20 wt.%.
Abstract:
A coating material (20) comprising a mixture of a thermosetting resin, polytetrafluoroethylene, a member of the polyolefin group consisting of polyethylene, a copolymer of polyethylene and polypropylene, and a combination of polyethylene and a copolymer of polyethylene and polypropylene, in a solvent, wherein said solvent being volatile and having the property of dissolving said resin, is produced and applied to a metal substrate (12).
Abstract:
A solid film lubricant system for protecting metal wear interfaces subject to high temperatures and wet lubrications, comprising an oil-attracting solid lubricant mixture (A) with at least two elements (A1, A2, A3) selected from the group of graphite, MoS2 and BN; a support (B) (i.e., hard lands or hard sublayer) for the mixture to loads of at least 10 psi at temperatures of 600-800 DEG F while being thermally stable; a thermally stable thermoset polymer matrix adhering the mixture to the support or the wear surface, the polymer having inherent hydrocarbon chemical attraction to form a tenacious oil film of the lubricating oil on the wearing surfaces, such as cylinder bore surfaces of a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine.
Abstract:
Iron-based metallurgical powder compositions are produced by mixing iron-based powder with an improved binder/lubricant that comprises dibasic organic acid and one or more additional components such as solid polyethers, liquid polyethers, and acrylic resin. These novel binder/lubricants impart one or more enhanced green properties to the powder compositions and reduce the ejection force required to remove the compositions from molds and dies.
Abstract:
A silicone grease composition is provided comprising (A) 2-40% by weight of an organopolysiloxane having a kinematic viscosity of 50-500,000 mm /s at 25 DEG C, and (B) 60-98% by weight of at least one heat conductive filler selected from among metal powders, metal oxide powders and ceramic powders having a thermal conductivity of at least 10 W/m DEG C and an average particle size of 0.1-15.0 mu m. Coarse particles are removed such that a 500-mesh oversize fraction is not more than 50 ppm and a 325-mesh oversize fraction is substantially zero.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a threaded tubular connection for drilling or operating hydrocarbon wells, comprising a portion of a tubular element with a male end having an axis of revolution and provided with a first threading extending about the axis of revolution, said male end portion being complementary with a portion of a tubular element with a female end having an axis of revolution and provided with a second threading extending about the axis of revolution, said male and female end portions being capable of being connected by makeup, each of the male and female end portions further comprising a sealing surface with a metal-metal interference, wherein the threading and the sealing surface of one of the two, male or female, end portions are coated with a first metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, said first metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layer being coated with a first passivation layer, and the complementary threading and sealing surface of the male or female end are coated with a second metallic anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, the second metallic anti-galling layer being at least partially coated with a lubricant layer comprising a resin and a dry solid lubricant powder dispersed in said resin.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a threaded portion of a tubular element for a threaded tubular connection having an axis of revolution, the portion comprising a threading extending over its outer or inner peripheral surface, and a first sealing surface on the peripheral surface, the first sealing surface being capable of producing metal-metal interference with a corresponding second sealing surface belonging to a complementary threaded portion. The threading and the first sealing surface are coated with a metallic anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, the metallic anti-galling layer being at least partially coated with a lubricant layer comprising a resin and a dry solid lubricant powder dispersed in the resin.
