Abstract: The invention relates to a composite twisted cable formed by impregnating carbon fibers with thermoplastic resin, and provides a fiber composite twisted cable which allows downsizing of a reel by being easy to be bent, can be transported to mountain areas which is normally hard to achieve a transport with a large vehicle, is hard to be curled, and is superior in workability. It is a cable having 1×n structure which is formed by impregnating bundles of carbon fibers with thermosetting resin, then twisting a plurality of strands each formed by covering an outer periphery of the bundle with a fiber, and then curing the thermosetting resin by applying the heat treatment, and a core strand and side strands which constitute the cable are separated and independent without being bonded so as to allow independent behavior of the respective strands when the cable is bent.

Abstract: An arborist's climbing rope in which an eye splice having a splice tuck can be formed at one end includes in one embodiment a core of polypropylene, a first braided tubular sheath of nylon disposed about the core and a second braided tubular sheath of a polyester disposed about the first braided tubular sheath, the cross-sectional diameter of the fiber material of the core area being in the range of 1 to 10% of the total cross-sectional diameter of the arborist's climbing rope. In forming the eye splice a portion of the core is intentionally removed near the eye splice to form a space within the first tubular sheath where the core has been removed and the splice tuck is buried in and substantially completely fills the space within the first tubular sheath where the core has been intentionally removed.

Abstract: A steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article which can improve the cut resistant property in the case of treading on an obtusely or sharply pointed projection without decreasing the strength in the axial direction of the cord and without increasing the tire weight, as well as a tire utilizing the same as a reinforcing material, are provided. The steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article has a multi-twisted structure formed by twisting a plurality of sheath strands (2) formed by twisting a plurality of wires around a core strand (2) formed by twisting a plurality of wires, and the core strand (1) and the sheath strands (2) are constituted of an at least 2-layer-twisted structure formed by twisting core wires and sheath wires respectively. In this case the relationship represented by the following formula 1.8≦[(S·cos2α)/{r·(φ1+φ2)}]×100≦4.2 is satisfied, wherein φ1: the diameter of an outermost wire of the strand (1), φ2: the diameter of an outermost wire of the strand (2), r: the center distance between the strand (1) and the strand (2), S: the cross section of the strand (2), and α: the twist angle of the strand (2).

Abstract: A dynamic stabilization system for stabilizing a vertebral segment of a spine. The system includes a first vertebral anchor, a second vertebral anchor and a cord. The system may also include a spacer positioned between the first and second vertebral anchor through which the cord extends. The first vertebral anchor is configured to be secured to a first vertebra and the second vertebral anchor is configured to be secured to a second vertebra. The cord is extendable from the first vertebral anchor to the second vertebral anchor. The cord has a variable stiffness through a range of displacement, wherein the stiffness of the cord increases as an applied tensile force on the cord is increased.
