Abstract:
A PC strand (1) is formed by twisting peripheral wires (3) made of deformed PC steel wires around a core (2), and allowing rust inhibitive material of thermoplastic resin to permeate into voids defined between the core (1) and peripheral wires (3) by use of an extruder. The core (2) may be deformed instead of the peripheral wires (3). Since at least one of the core (2) and peripheral wires (3) is made of a deformed PC steel wire having an uneven outer surface, the thermoplastic resin can smoothly permeate deep into the inside of the PC strand.
Abstract:
A metallic cable (10) comprises a strand of identical helical shaped filaments (11, 12, 13) positioned beside and against each other such that each filament of the strand is in line contact with at least one other filament of the strand. The helixes of the filaments of the strand are sloped in a first direction. A single filament (14) is twisted with the strand in a direction opposite to said first direction. An apparatus and a method for manufacturing the metallic cable are also disclosed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a helical cord that forms an elliptical shape will be manufactured so that the length-to-width ratio or the dimensions of the shaped form of the cord that is shaped in the length direction can be changed. SOLUTION: A cord C is passed successively to through-holes 21H and 22H in a stationary and a movable shaping body 21 and 22 opposite each other in a shaping device 20. At this time, the movable shaping body 22 is moved along the stationary shaping body 21 by a moving apparatus, the through-holes 21H and 22H are brought off-center, and the cord C passing between the off-centered through-holes 21H and 22H is shaped by being bent and deformed. The moving apparatus is also provided with first and second displacement mechanisms that displace the movable shaping body 22 in the X and Y directions. The movable shaping body 22 is thus rediprocatingly displaced by amounts of displacement individually set synchronized to the two directions, the movable shaping body 22 is moved continuously interlocked to the displacement in the two directions, and the cord C that is passed through is shaped.
