Abstract:
This invention concerns compositions for the treatment of urinary frequency, urinary urgency and urinary incontinence comprising a selected antagonist of the NK-1 receptor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and an anti-muscarinic agent or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. This invention concerns combination therapy for urinary frequency, urinary urgency and urinary incontinence wherein one of the active agents is a selected antagonist of the NK-1 receptor or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and another is an anti-muscarinic agent or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for flow verification and validation of mass flow controllers are disclosed. A mass flow controller may be commanded to a specified flow and flow measurement commenced. During an interval, gas is accumulated in a first volume and measurements taken within this volume. The various measurements taken during the interval may then be used to calculate the flow rate. The flow rate, in turn, may be used to determine the accuracy of the mass flow controller relative to a setpoint.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a multi-processor computer system includes multiple cells, where a cell may include one or more processors and memory resources. The system may further include a global crossbar network and multiple cell-to-global-crossbar connectors, to connect the multiple cells with the global crossbar network. In an embodiment, the system further includes at least one cell-to-cell connector, to directly connect at least one pair of the multiple cells. In another embodiment, the system further includes one or more local crossbar networks, multiple cell-to-local-crossbar connectors, and local input/output backplanes connected to the one or more local crossbar networks.
Abstract:
A time attendance system, including a time attendance clock, designed to be used in harsh conditions, such as outdoor job sites. A portable touch button, including a passively readable code, is brought into contact with the time attendance clock so as to create a time attendance record stored in the clock. Visual indicators and audible notification alert the employee of the acceptance of the act. Periodically, the time attendance records are retrieved from the time attendance clock, such as by using a hand-held electronic device which communicates in a wireless manner with the time attendance clock.
Abstract:
This invention relates to Applicant’s discovery that Metabolic Syndrome, a cluster of disorders stemming from a resistance to insulin, contributes directly to dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Applicant’s invention includes a screening method to determine susceptibility and diagnosis of dementia based on the risk factors for Metabolic Syndrome. Applicant’s invention further includes methods for the prevention or treatment of dementia and other neurological conditions based on (1) minimizing insulin resistance, thereby preventing excess biosynthesis of insulin; (2) modulating the activity of IDE such that insulin competes less efficiently with β-amyloid protein for the IDE; and (3) blocking the consequences of NMDA receptor activation, such as by minimizing the generation of NO and other harmful free radicals.
Abstract:
This invention relates to providing a system for improved methods of promoting, forming and managing Internet-based communities on the Internet through and within standard web pages without requiring the installation of additional software on a user’s computer or on web sites where the system is implemented by using the latest software tools, presentation techniques and Internet communication methods (504). Additionally, this invention provides real time monitoring of user counts (508) to all visitors and web pate owners when a page with the embedded URL is accessed (520). In particular, this invention permits web page visitors to initiate and participate in anonymous and hoc chat sessions initiated from a selected web page (522). Additionally, this invention provides a web-based location which permits Internet users to join and participate in Internet-based communities and the related activities such as messaging other members, participating in member chat sessions and web resource sharing without the need to install software.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising i) ketotifen or an analog thereof and ii) a chemotherapeutic drug subject to multi-drug resistance by P-gp, such as doxorubicin or an analog thereof. The pharmaceutical composition is useful for treating cancer. The pharmaceutical composition is also useful for i) preventing or treating multi-drug resistance in a subject or ii) preventing a chemotherapeutic drug subject to multi-drug resistance by P-gp induced cardiac tissue damage in a subject, such as doxorubicin or an analog thereof. Abstract:
A flow restrictor (30) for a mass flow metering device formed of a solid material and slots (32) originating from an outer surface towards inward.
Abstract:
A method for inhibiting corrosion, e.g., pitting corrosion, of alloys is provided. Particularly, the method comprises contacting at least a portion of a surface of the alloy with an aqueous solution comprising a salt of one or more rare earth elements selected from the group consisting of yttrium, gadolinium, cerium, europium, terbium, samarium, neodymium, praseodymium, lanthanum, holmium, ytterbium, dysprosium and erbium; and establishing a voltage differential between an anode comprising the alloy and a cathode in the solution at an effective level and for a sufficient period of time wherein a rare earth element oxide-containing coating is formed on the surface of the alloy to inhibit corrosion thereof.
Abstract:
Flooring that utilizes self-stabilizing preshrunk woven face fabric using relatively heavy "carpet weight" nylon, polyester, PTT or other yarns on modern Jacquard computer controlled looms to produce flat-weave fabrics that are bonded to engineered backing structures. Urethane modified bitumen may be used as a backing layer, and an optional latex precoat may be used on the fabric layer, together with an optional antimicrobial in the precoat.
