Abstract:
Epoxy resin which results from dehydrogenating the reaction product of an excess of at least one epihalohydrin with at least one phosphoramide compound represented by formula (I), wherein each R is independently hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl or an inertly substituted hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, with the proviso that at least two of the R groups are hydrogen, and removing the excess epihalohydrin. Mixtures of the epoxy resins of this invention with curing agents are useful in the preparation of castings, laminates or coatings.
Abstract:
The insulating edge tape is provided with a longitudinal segment (4) flat on both sides and a longitudinal segment (5) connected thereto and profiled on one side. The height (6) of the longitudinal segment (4) flat on both sides correspond to the gap (7) between a corresponding hollow and the lower flat side (1) of the tape. The tape may be fabricated from a one piece plastic blank, thereby reducing the manufacturing costs. A notch (9) between the longitudinal segment (4) flat on both sides and the longitudinal segment (5) with an ondulated profiling on one side enables an easy bending of the tape for the mounting thereof. Since the ondulated profiling (8) is horizontal when the insulating edge tape is mounted, it is impossible to foreign bodies to fall into the hollows and to affect the flexibility of the insulating edge tape.
Abstract:
Unitary, cast structural element (10) for a filter press electrolysis cell which incorporates into a single unit the central barrier (14) between the peripheral boundaries for the adjacent anolyte compartment (22) and the adjacent catholyte compartment (24) of two electrolysis cells located on opposite sides of the central barrier (14). Also incorporated into the single cast structural element (10) are anode bosses (18) and cathode bosses (20) extending outwardly from opposite sides of the central barrier. These bosses (18, 20) not only serve as mechanical support for their respective flat plate anode (36) and cathode (46), but also serve as stand-off means and electrical current collectors and disperses from the cathode (46) of one electrolysis cell to the anode (36) of the next cell. Simplicity of design coupled with incorporation of many functional elements into one part eliminates many warpage problems, inherent high voltage problems and membrane (27) "hot spot" problems.
Abstract:
Abstract:
An environmentally friendly polymer film pouch made from a polyethylene film structure for the packaging of flowable materials, for example milk, including, for example, a pouch made from a monolayer or multilayer film structure such as a two-layer or a three-layer coextruded film containing at least one layer of a blend of a linear ethylene interpolymer and a high pressure low density polyethylene as a seal layer. Also disclosed is a process for making a pouch for packaging flowable materials using a film structure of a blend of a linear ethylene interpolymer and a high pressure low density polyethylene.
Abstract:
Cation exchange resins are prepared by sulfonating copolymer beads in the presence of a swelling solvent under pressure. Pressure sulfonation shortens cycle times and requires less energy while maintaining or improving product quality.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed for the neutralization of amine or alkanolamine heat stable salts with aqueous KOH or with alkali metal base, such as potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or potassium bicarbonate, formulated with amines or alkanolamines, resulting in less solids formation than commonly formed when alkali metal bases, such as aqueous sodium hydroxide or aqueous potassium carbonate.
Abstract:
The present invention is a process for removing water from an alkanesulfonic acid such as methanesulfonic acid or ethanesulfonic acid by mixing an azeotropic excess of a phenolic compound with water and the alkanesulfonic acid, then boiling off substantially all of the water, and leaving as a remnant substantially all the alkanesulfonic acid and some of the phenol. This process is particularly useful for recycling an alkanesulfonic acid for a reaction which requires the phenolic compound as one of the reagents. One such reaction is the alkanesulfonic acid catalyzed condensation reaction of a phenolic compound with an alpha -haloketone to form a chlorinated intermediate of a dihydroxy- alpha -alkylstilbene such as 4,4'-dihydroxy- alpha -alkylstilbene (DHAMS).
Abstract:
The invention is a complex-shaped article, comprising an article prepared by joining at least one multi-phase ceramic-metal part and at least one shaped part of another material, wherein the theoretical density of the at least one ceramic-metal part is greater than 80 percent. In another aspect, the invention is a process for preparing complex-shaped articles, comprising: (a) forming at least one ceramic-metal part; (b) forming at least one shaped part of another material; and (c) joining the at least one shaped ceramic-metal part with the at least one shaped part of another material such that a complex-shaped article is formed. The invention is a less costly and time-consuming process for preparing complex-shaped composite articles wherein the articles are formed of two or more selected materials wherein one of the materials is a ceramic-metal composite.
Abstract:
A method for selecting a parts kit detail for the installation of a pressure transducer on a container such as a pipeline or a vessel, the container for containing a fluid material, the method including two steps. The first step is to establish at least two different installation categories, each such different installation category being defined by the properties of the fluid material. The second step is to establish at least two different parts kit details, at least two of such different parts kit details being applicable to the different installation categories.
