Abstract:
An automatic door closer wherein the spring which urges the door closing spindle to its starting position bears against the piston of the braking device for the spindle and against a retainer which is adjustable by means of a shaft extending from the housing of the door closer. In this way, the initial stress upon the spring can be changed in fully assembled and installed condition of the door closer. The cylinder of the braking device is rigid with the housing and has an end wall which faces the spindle and is traversed by the piston rod of the piston. The end wall serves as a support for a check valve which admits fluid into the compartment between such end wall and the piston when the spindle rotates during opening of the door but prevents the flow of fluid when the spindle rotates toward its starting position.
Abstract:
THE APPLICATION DISCLOSES A DEVICE FOR SECURING GARAGE DOOR SPRINGS IN PLACE INCLUDING A THREADED ROD HOOKED AT ONE END AND HAVING A SLIDEABLE SLEEVE THEREON PROVIDED WITH AN OPPOSITELY FACING HOOK TOGETHER WITH NUTS THREADED ON THE ROD BEYOND EACH END OF THE SLEEVE.
Abstract:
AN OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR HINGING SYSTEM HAVING A SPRING FASTENER FOR ADJUSTABLY COUPLING COUNTERBALANCE SPRINGS TO A POWER ARM. THE SPRING FASTENER INCLUDES A PAIR OF SIDE PLATES BETWEEN WHICH THE POWER ARM IS PIVOTABLY MOUNTED THROUGH ONE OF A PLURALITY OF HOLES IN THE POWER ARM. A PLURALITY OF OPENINGS ARE SO SPACED ALONG THE SIDE PLATES THAT EACH OF THE OPENINGS ARE ALIGNED WITH A DIFFERENT ONE OF THE HOLES IN THE POWER ARM AT ONE POSITION OF THE HINGING SYSTEM, WHEREBY THE POINTS OF ATTACHMENT OF THE SPRINGS TO THE POWER ARM MAY BE CHANGED WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE SPRINGS. THE COUNTERBALANCE SPRINGS ARE CONNECTED TO THE GARAGE STRUCTURE BY MEANS INCLUDING A SPRING-CONNECTING MEMBER AND A SLOTTED MOUNTING BRACKET WHICH ARE ADAPTED FOR ACCOMMODATING A TENSION-ADJUSTING TOOL FOR REPOSITIONING THE CONNECTING MEMBER, AND THEREFORE ADJUSTING THE TENSION OF THE SPRINGS. A SPRING SPREADER, HAVING SPRING-CONNECTION LUGS MOUNTED ON A SHAFT SO AS TO CONVERT ROTATIONAL MOTION OF THE SHAFT INTO LINEAR DISPLACEMENT OF THE LUGS, IS PROVIDED FOR CONVENIENTLY INSTALLING THE COUNTERBALANCE SPRINGS. A MOUNTING MEMBER POSITIONING TOOL IS FURTHER PROVIDED FOR RELEASABLY ENGAGING ONE LEG OF A MOUNTING BRACKET OF THE HINGING SYSTEM, SO THAT THE GARAGE DOOR MAY BE DETACHED AND REINSTALLED WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE SPRINGS FROM THE SYSTEM.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A top-loadable cargo trailer has one or more top doors mounted to a container using hinge assemblies which are located entirely within a perimeter of the container when the top door is closed. In this way, no part of the full width, length, or height of the container is taken up by overhanding hinges, and in jurisdictions limiting container width, length, and height no amount of container volume is sacrificed due to hinge overhang. The hinge assemblies have a compound, or dual hinge biased by a resistance mechanism such as a coil spring to provide an orderly opening and closing sequence of the top door. When fully open, the top door hangs vertically flush against the container wall, thus minimize hazard to works and equipment moving about the container.
Abstract:
A torsion spring tensioning tool (10) for tensioning a torsion spring of a counterbalancing mechanism of an overhead door. The torsion spring tensioning tool (10) comprises a housing (20), a gear wheel (60) rotatably arranged in the housing (20) and a gear mechanism (40) adapted to rotate the gear wheel (60). The gear wheel (60) is adapted to be mounted on a shaft of the counterbalancing mechanism. The gear wheel (60) comprises a fastening means (91) adapted to be connected to the torsion spring of the counterbalancing mechanism and transmit a rotational movement from the gear wheel (60) to the torsion spring. The gear wheel (60) comprises a first wheel segment (71) and a second wheel segment (72), which second wheel segment (72) is axially attachable to and axially detachable from the first wheel segment (71). The first wheel segment (71) is adapted to be mounted on the shaft of the counterbalancing mechanism when the second wheel segment (72) is in a detached state.
