    Abstract: A wide band/dual frequency microstrip patch antenna is provided to improve directionality of an antenna beam by controlling an interval between radiators on a substrate to control radiation patterns radiated from the radiators. A wide band/dual frequency microstrip patch antenna includes a plurality of radiators(1) which are printed or etched on a dielectric substrate(4) at a length of lambda/2 of a main resonance frequency. Each of the radiators is connected to microstrip lines(5,8) through feed points(2). A plurality of short points(3) are formed on the radiators at a length of lambda/4 of a sub resonance frequency by being spaced apart from the feed points and shorted to a ground plate inside an antenna substrate. A signal transmitted through a port(12) is divided by using the microstrip lines and fed to the radiators. A ground plate(6) around the microstrip lines is connected to the ground plate inside the antenna substrate through a plurality of through holes(11).
