Abstract:
A method is disclosed for preparing a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite from a reaction mixture containing only sufficient water so that the reaction mixture may be shaped if desired. In the method, the reaction mixture is heated at crystallization conditions and in the absence of an external liquid phase, so that excess liquid need not be removed from the crystallized material prior to drying the crystals.
Abstract:
Compositions are provided comprising a propylene-ethylene copolymer containing about 1 to about 7 weight percent ethylene and an ehtylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer containing at least about 20 weight percent ethylene, wherein the composition contains about 10 to 25 weight percent alkyl acrylate, based on the combined weight of propylene-ethylene copolymer and ethylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer. Films made from these compositions have good RF sealing properties, as well as good flexibility at low temperatures.
Abstract:
A fuel composition for two-cycle engines comprising a major amount of fuel boiling in the gasoline range and a minor amount of a lubricant composition comprising a base oil of lubricating viscosity and an additive formulation comprising (1) a molybdenum/sulfur complex of a basic nitrogen compound, (2) a carboxylic acid amide, and (3) a succinimide.
Abstract:
Provided is a reforming process for producing a high purity benzene product using a non-acidic zeolitic catalyst. The high purity benzene is extracted from a light fraction of reformate that has less than 500 ppm by weight toluene. Generally, a hydrocarbon feed is reformed in a reformer under reforming conditions in the presence of a non-acidic catalyst to produce a reformate. That reformate is separated into a light fraction and a heavy fraction. The extraction unit, preferably an extractive distillation unit, is then used to separate the light fraction into an aromatic extract stream and a nonaromatic raffinate stream.
Abstract:
A pesticidal formulation in concentrate form having low volatility is formed containing solid particulate bioactive in compounds and non-ionic surfactants, hydrocarbons having a viscosity of about 30 centipoise at 25 DEG C, silica and, optionally a polymeric oil-miscible thickener. The use of a large amount of organic solvents is avoided, therefore making the concentrate environmentally safe, easily storable, and providing a reduced fire hazard. The concentrate can be diluted with water and/or oil for use as a spray.
Abstract:
A composition of polyalkylenepolyamine derivatives useful as a corrosion inhibitor in aqueous media produced by reacting a starting polyalkylenepolyamine composition comprising a mixture of: (i) at least one C-alkyl-ethylene diamine; and (ii) at least one di-(C-alkyl)-diethylenetriamine; wherein each C-alkyl group on the ethylene diamine and diethylenetriamine independently contain between 8-26 carbon atoms; with a derivatizing agent which is either an alkylating agent or an alkylene oxide. Methods for preparing this composition and using it to inhibit the corrosion of corrodible metal alloys are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Certain borated aromatic polyols, such as catechol borate, are found to be effective lube oil additives to compatibilize the oil with the fluorocarbon polymer seals when the lube oil contains basic nitrogen.
Abstract:
Disclosed are copolymers of ethylene and alkyl acrylate monomers and methods of making those copolymers. Said copolymers exhibit increased melt-point temperatures and decreased hardness over similar conventional copolymers, as well as improved optical properties.
Abstract:
A foam-forming composition comprising a mixture of at least one anionic surfactant and at least one cationic surfactant can effectively form a foam in a variety of formations including an oil-wet environment. In particular, this composition can be employed in a method which comprises at least periodically injecting a gas and this foam-forming composition into an oil-bearing formation to drive oil to a production well. In this composition, the ratio of the at least one anionic surfactant to the at least one cationic surfactant is selected so that the surfactants do not form substantial amounts of precipitate when mixed together. In certain environments, e.g., when the formation contains upwards of 20 % total dissolved solids and/or a divalent metal ion concentration up to about 20,000 ppm, the composition can further contain at least one salt-tolerance additive, e.g., a nonionic surfactant.
