Abstract: A mobile platform intended for civilian, industrial, research or other use. An ambulation system or mobile platform such as for traveling over uneven terrain includes one or more leg arrangements attached to a main body or chassis. In an embodiment, a leg arrangement comprises one or more legs, such as legs that rotate in the same and singular direction around their respective rotary joints when the vehicle is moving in a single direction. The rotational axis for both legs is located near each other and preferably coaxially and allows ground contact of two or more legs at all times.

Abstract: A flex spline torque transfer device has a flex spline that is deflected in the radial direction by magnetic attraction to form a wave. The flex spline may be deflected radially inward by magnetic attraction to form a wave. The flex spline (FS) may be deflected radially inward by magnetic attraction at one or more positions equally spaced around FS ID. The attraction may be greatest at smallest radial air gap between FS and magnetic means and lowest at largest airgap. The magnetic means may or may not be actively commutated. The highest magnetic force may be determined by smallest airgap. In another statement, a torque transfer device has a flex spline that is deflected radially inward by magnetic attraction to a permanent magnet means at one or more positions equally spaced around FS ID.

Abstract: An exoskeleton suit is provided that allows a user to control the legs using the arms. Preferably there is two-way feedback/control between the legs and arms causing movement of leg joints to be proportional to movement of arm joints. Haptic forces and control forces on the joints may also be proportional. The relative magnitudes of the movements and forces may be adjustable. Rotary or angular actuators may be used. A twisting actuator is also provided using a pair of bending actuators mounted side by side to provide torsional displacement of frame members. The ability to support a portion of the user's weight on the hand grips is possible while simultaneously controlling the lower body movement by applying pitch, roll and yaw movements to that hand grip.

Abstract: An internal gear pump or motor includes inner and outer rotors that mesh together. An internal electric motor or generator may include a stator supported by a support element that passes through bearings of the outer rotor and the inner rotor may act as a rotor of the electric motor or generator. With or without the stator, the support element may support bearings of the inner rotor. Fluids may be supplied via the support element for cooling, lubrication or to flush a working fluid out of portions of the pump or motor, such as bearings. Flushing may also occur via channels in the housing. Axial faces of one of a pair of adjacent elements may include portions for improved axial sealing and wearing in of the other of the pair. Fluid may enter and exit chambers between the inner and outer rotors by radial ports.

To avoid unmeshing of the gears due to twisting from the applied torque, a camming effect may be used in which applied torque generates a radial preload. The gears that mesh with the input gear may do so at portions of the gears that also mesh with a corresponding one of the inner or outer race. The planets may be geared with axial portions with different helix angle. The inner race or outer race may be formed of two components geared with different helix angle to mesh with the different axial portions of the planets. By using these different components, assembly is eased as the components can be slid onto the planets axially.

Abstract: In a rotor in rotor configuration, a pump has inward projections on an outer rotor and outward projections on an inner rotor. The outer rotor is driven and the projections mesh to create variable volume chambers. The outer rotor may be driven in both directions. In each direction, the driving part (first inward projection) of the outer rotor contacts a sealing surface on one side of an outward projection of the inner rotor, while a gap is left between a sealing surface of the other side of the outward projection and a second inward projection. The gap may have uniform width along its length in the radial direction, while in a direction parallel to the rotor axis it may be discontinuous or have variable size to create flow paths for gases.
