    Abstract: An electrochemical sensor comprising an electrolyte and an analyte separated by a selectively permeable membrane characterised in that the electrolyte is an electrically conductive solid comprising a homogeneous dispersion of a polymeric matrix phase and an electrically conductive salt and substantially free of water. Preferably the polymeric matrix phase is plasticised, the plasticiser forming a continuous phase in which the conductive salt is dissolved. The sensor is used, for example, for sensing and measuring gases especially in transcutaneous measurement of blood gases.

    Abstract: Deux formes d'iso-enzymes de creatine phosphokinase (CK) dans les tissus animaux indiquent des lesions du muscle strie (forme MM) ou des lesions cardiaques (forme MB). L'invention permet d'effectuer une analyse plus simple et plus economique que celle utilisee anterieurement, decoulant de la decouverte que certains ions metalliques inhibent la forme MB tout en inhibant moins la forme MM ou meme en l'activant. Pour le serum humain des ions aluminium sont preferes. A partir de l'activite CK sans l'inhibiteur d'ions selectifs on peut determiner le CK total (formes MB + MM) et une comparaison de l'activite CK en presence et en l'absence de l'inhibiteur d'ions selectifs produit l'activite de la forme MB. Du phosphate de creatine et DPA sont normalement ajoutes pour determiner l'activite CK.

    Abstract: A crop cutting apparatus has two vertical axis rotary drum cutters (13), each having an upper rotor with a crop conveying surface (19) and a lower rotor carrying knives (21). Gears drive the upper and lower rotors at different angular velocities. The lower rotor has an annular rim (18) having an upper surface shaped to continue the outline of the conveying surface (19). The knives (21) protrude outwardly from beneath the rim (18) and rotate with the rim. A wiper brush (34) mounted on the conveying surface (19) projects outwardly over the rim (18) for lifting and transferring crop to the surface (19). The upper rotor may have conditioning brushes (35) for conveying crop and conditioning crop by relative movement between the brushes and the crop. The upper and lower rotors may be rotated in opposite senses to effect at least partial shear cutting.

The semiconductor region of tin may be grown by molecular beam epitaxy.
