Abstract:
Manipulation of flames is described using electric fields. In those instances in which electric fields are used, the electric fields may be time-varying gradient electric fields, and in some instances may be oscillating electiic fields. The manipulation may include extinction, suppression, control of mixing of the flame, concentration, and/or bending, among other types.
Abstract:
A viscoelastic ink for direct writing of hydrogel structures includes a long chain polymer and a photopolymerizable moiety, which may be a photopolymerizable monomer or a photopolymerizable group attached to the long chain polymer. The ink may also include a crosslinking agent, a photoinitiator, and water. The long chain polymer is present at a concentration greater than a critical overlap concentration c* of the long chain polymer in the ink.
Abstract:
A method for mapping a two-dimensional image data onto a three-dimensional graphic model of an object includes taking a plurality of two-dimensional images of the object. Each two-dimensional image has data, such as temperature data, which is desired to be represented on the three-dimensional graphic model. The three- dimensional model of the object is viewed on a graphic user interface. The three- dimensional model has a plurality of facets, each facet being configured for selectively receiving the data from the two-dimensional images, so that the two-dimensional images are mapped onto the facets of the three-dimensional model. The three- dimensional model can then be analyzed.
Abstract:
A mobile telephone includes a body (12), a display (14) and a keypad (16). The keypad (16) is removeably secured to the body (12) and coupled to a processor. The keypad (16) is depressible along a plurality of directions and can be switched between a first mode and second mode, wherein each combination of depressible direction and mode represent a unique group of alphanumeric letters. The processor includes word recognition software, so a desired word can be determined from the sequence of groups of letter selected without having to select each individual letter.

21,990. Shepherd, R. S. Sept.27. Bedstead frames. - A bracket arm B sleeved at C to the leg of a bedstead &c. carries a castor D which enters a cup E in the floor so that an orbital movement in an horizontal plane may be given to the bedstead.
Abstract:
Flow chambers are provided. In some embodiments, the flow chambers include an inner panel having at least one flow channel having an inlet/outlet opening on each end thereof formed therein, wherein the inlet/outlet openings are adapted to releasably receive a septum; one or more ports adapted to releasably receive a plug and for at least liquid communication with the at least one flow channel, and an outer frame that defines an outer portion of the at least one flow channel and that defines a perimeter of the flow chamber. In some embodiments, the flow chamber has overall dimensions of a standard multiwell plate and the at least one flow channel is located in a position that corresponds to a column location of the standard multiwell plate. Also provided are methods for producing the presently disclosed flow chambers and employing the same to assay biological features of cultured cells and/or tissues.
