A method for producing a photovoltaic (PV) laminate is provided. The method includes positioning a first PV cell string on a first side encapsulant layer, disposing a first segment of a second side encapsulant layer on the first PV cell string, and positioning a second PV cell string adjacent to the first PV cell string. The first segment has a width greater than the first PV cell string and an overhang portion of the first segment extends beyond an edge of the first PV cell string. The overhang portion of the first segment is disposed between the first PV cell string and the second PV cell string.

A method of recycling monocrystalline segments cut from a monocrystalline ingot of semiconductor or solar grade material is provided. The method includes removing a first monocrystalline segment from the monocrystalline ingot, connecting the first monocrystalline segment to a second monocrystalline segment to form a chain of monocrystalline segments, and introducing the chain of monocrystalline segments into a melt of semiconductor or solar grade material.

The laminate includes a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of PV cells disposed between the top surface and the bottom surface. The frame circumscribes at least a portion of the laminate. The junction box is attached adjacent to the bottom surface of the laminate and electrically coupled to the plurality of PV cells. The electronic assembly is attached adjacent to the bottom surface of the laminate and external of the junction box. The electronic assembly includes a bypass diode electrically coupled to at least one PV cell of the plurality of PV cells.

A method for scheduling cleaning of a photovoltaic ("PV") system is implemented by a soiling monitoring computer system. The method includes determining a soiling level and a soiling rate for a photovoltaic (PV) system, calculating a cost associated with cleaning the PV system at each of a plurality of possible cleaning times, determining an expected energy output gain associated with cleaning the PV system at each of the plurality of possible times based on the soiling level and the soiling rate, calculating an expected benefit associated with cleaning the PV system at each of the plurality of possible cleaning times based on the expected energy output gain associated with each possible cleaning time, determining a first time of the plurality of possible times when the expected benefit exceeds the cost, and scheduling a cleaning time based on at least the determined first time.

A crystal puller for growing a crystal ingot includes a housing, insulation, a crucible assembly, a heat shield, and a dust barrier. The housing encloses a growth chamber, and has an upper wall with an inner surface and an aperture. The insulation separates an inside of the housing into an upper area and a lower area, and has a central opening. The crucible assembly is within the lower area to contain the melt. The heat shield is adjacent the central opening of the insulation, and forms a labyrinth gas path with the crucible assembly. The dust barrier extends from the inner surface of the upper wall to one of the insulation and the heat shield, and forms a seal with the upper wall around the aperture to inhibit particles from entering the growth chamber through the upper area of the housing.

Apparatus, methods, and systems for filtering for power line communications are described. In one example, a low pass filter for power line communication in a power system including at least one phase conductor and a neutral conductor is described. The filter includes at least one capacitor coupled between the phase conductor and the neutral conductor, at least one resistor coupled between the phase conductor and the neutral conductor, and at least one inductor coupled on the neutral conductor.
