Abstract:
Immunogens, compositions and methods for treating, preventing and/or diagnosing PEDV infection in pigs are disclosed. The compositions and methods use inactivated or attenuated virus-containing vaccines, or subunit vaccines, including immunogens and mixtures of immunogens derived from PEDV isolates.
Abstract:
Described are methods and uses employing metabolomic data to diagnose an asthma disease state or a Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) state. Further described are methods of uses of employing metabolomic data to distinguish between asthma and COPD. In particular, urinary metabolomic profiles are employed to enable differential diagnosis of asthma and COPD.
Abstract:
The present application includes a method for improving human and animal health comprising administering an effective amount of a linus cyclopeptide (LCP) extract from flaxseed to a subject in need thereof. Also included are feeds, foodstuffs, functional food compositions, natural product compositions nutraceuticals and food additive compositions comprising an LCP extract from flaxseed.
Abstract:
The present application relates to functionalized nanodiamonds, to complexes comprising a functionalized nanodiamond reversibly bound to a nucleic acid and to compositions comprising such functionalized nanodiamonds and complexes. In particular, the functionalized nanodiamonds comprise at least one naturally occurring basic amino acid, or analogs or derivatives thereof, covalently linked to a nanodiamond. The present application also includes methods and uses of the complexes and compositions, for example for delivering a nucleic acid to a cell.
Abstract:
A composition comprising an isolated fowl adenovirus (FAdV), wherein the FAdV is a strain selected from FAdV-2, FAdV-7, FAdv-8a, FAdV-8b, FAdV-8a/8b or FAdV-11 serotype strains; and a suitable carrier and methods for inducing protective immunity in a subject and/or its progeny.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a novel ascomyceteous fungus, Sphaerodes mycoparasitica, for controlling plant fungal pathogens, disease symptoms, and mycotoxins in planta and ex planta. Uses, methods, compositions, sequences, and products are also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
Compounds having the general structural formula (I) wherein X can be any element or compound that can form a coordination complex with phthalocyanine and wherein R1; R2, R3 and R4 are independently anionic moieties, or (II) wherein R1; R2, R3 and R4 are independently anionic moieties, are useful in the potentiation of antibiotic activity, and/or in inhibiting or delaying the development of resistance to antibiotics. R1; R2, R3 and R4 may be —S03-. The compounds may be administered to a subject in conjunction with an antibiotic. The antibiotic may be an activator of the SOS response, and may be a DNA gyrase inhibitor or a topoisomerase inhibitor. Compositions and dosage forms comprising the compounds are provided.
Abstract:
Prion peptides comprising prion epitopes and fusions thereof, that display enhanced immunogenicity are described. Also described are methods of treating and diagnosing prion disease.
Abstract:
The present application includes iron catalysts promoted with Mo, K and optionally Cu on a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) support for high molecular weight hydrocarbon synthesis from synthesis gas.
Abstract:
Implants and methods for stabilizing bone fractures are provided. In one embodiment, the implants are spheres. In another embodiment, the implants are rods. The rods can be used to stabilize peripheral portions of a bone fracture. The rods can be shaped and configured to correspond to the shape of a region of bone against which the rod will be deployed. The rods can be provided with surface features for engaging adjacent rods and/or adjacent regions of bone to further stabilize the rods. The spheres can be inserted to fill a remaining volume of the fracture cavity. The implants can be made from orthobiologic materials.
