Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for encoding/decoding an image by searching an adaptive quantization coefficient and a computer readable recording medium with the method are provided to adaptively search a quantization coefficient, thereby increasing compression performance. CONSTITUTION: A subtraction unit(120) subtracts a pixel value of each pixel of a prediction block from a pixel value of each pixel of a current block. The subtraction unit generates a residual block with a residual signal. A conversion unit(130) converts the residual signal into a frequency domain. The conversion unit generates a residual block with a frequency coefficient. A quantization unit(140) quantizes the converted residual block. An encoding unit(150) generates encoding data by encoding quantization coefficients of the quantized residual block.
