A multimedia data recording method and an apparatus thereof for automatically producing and updating metadata are provided to update an existing metadata and regenerate search target item by generating the metadata recording screen information related to a search object item. A search target item inputting unit(110) inputs search target item for classifying scene of search target media data. The search target item is outputted to the scene selecting unit(120). Media data and search target item are input to the scene selecting unit. The scene corresponding to each search target item registered among the scenes of media data is selected during the input of media data. A metadata generator generates the metadata including the screen information among the index of the scenes or the presentation timing when being selected when being inputted from the scene selecting unit.

A multimedia contents adding a filed for a metadata administration in a multimedia content, a metadata processing method and an apparatus thereof are provided to determine metadata update time in a contents regenerating device by adding a field. An A/V contents is comprised of file format of an element unit corresponding to a basic storage unit. A meta data renewal sensitive field is added by an element unit in a file format(420). The validity of corresponding meta data and the point of time when corresponding meta data is updated are recorded in the meta data renewal sensitive field(430). The meta data renewal related information is comprised of last update field recording the time when corresponding meta data is revised and the term of validity field recording the effective time of corresponding meta data.

A memory device, an apparatus for extracting user's tendency by using the same, and a method therefor are provided to diversify the kind and arrangement contents according to the user's tendency without a separated registration procedure. A method for encoding and decoding a content file is provided to strengthen security and increase encoding/decoding speed in a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system by encoding and decoding a DRM content file after dividing the DRM content file into a plurality of data blocks. An encoded content file is divided into a plurality of data blocks(S10). The data blocks are grouped into a plurality of groups according to preset group sizes(S20). A plurality of group content keys corresponding to the groups are generated(S30). A plurality of data block keys for the data blocks included in the groups are generated by inputting the group content keys into a hash function(S40). The data blocks are decoded by using the block keys(S50).

An integrity confirmation key is produced in each packet to confirm the integrity of contents comprising at least one packet by using information included to the packet. A group, a secret set, comprising the integrity confirmation key produced in each packet is produced(S610). The secret set is packaged with the contents and a transfer packet is produced (S620). The transfer packet is transmitted(S630).
