    Abstract: An after image preventing circuit and method of a liquid crystal display are provided to enable a user to feel like a fixed image being displayed, while moving a part of the image in upper, lower, right and left directions at a predetermined time interval. A frame memory(121) stores image data of the previous frame. A comparator(122) compares the image data of the previous frame with image data of the present frame, and outputs a count signal if the data are identical with each other and a reset signal if not. A counter(123) starts counting in response to the count signal and generates a shift signal when the present count value reaches a predetermined reference value. An image shifting unit(124) shifts the image displayed at a liquid crystal panel in accordance with the shift signal.
