PURPOSE: An organic electrolyte for a redox flow battery is provided to have a high energy density by increasing a solubility of the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION: An organic electrolyte comprises: a solvent; an electrolyte which consists of a metal-ligand coordination compound; and a polymeric compound which has metal affinity group as an additive. The additive is included as a quantity of 1-15 volume % of the organic electrolyte. In addition, a redox flow battery includes: an anode cell which includes an anode and an anolyte; a cathode cell which includes a cathode and a catholyte; an ion exchange membrane which is positioned between the anode cell and the cathode cell; and one or more of the anolyte and the catholyte are the organic electrolyte.

CONSTITUTION: An ion exchange film-filling composition comprises an ion conductive material(120) and an aqueous support(130). The ion conductive material comprises at least one compound selected from an ion conducting monomer and an ion conducting polymer. The ion conducting monomer comprises quaternary ammonium salt. A manufacturing method of an ion exchange film comprises a step of impregnating the ion exchange film-filling composition into a porous substrate film(110) which has ion exchanging performance; and a step of polymerizing the ion exchange film-filling composition.

PURPOSE: A redox flow battery is provided to a metal-ligand coordination compound comprising an aromatic ligand containing electron withdrawing group by using a positive electrolyte and/or a negative electrode electrolyte, thereby having high energy density, and high charging/discharging efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A redox flow battery comprises: a positive electrode cell(1) comprising a positive electrode(13), and a positive electrolyte(11); a negative electrode cell(2) comprising a negative electrode(14), and a negative electrolyte(12); and an ion exchange membrane(10) located between the positive electrode cell and the negative electrode cell. The positive electrolyte and the negative electrolyte respectively comprise solvent, support electrolyte, and metal-ligand coordination compounds. At least one of the metal-ligand coordination compounds is a metal-ligand coordination compound, which contains an aromatic ligand containing an electron withdrawing group.
