Abstract: PURPOSE: A system and method for transmitting/reproducing an MPEG-2 digital image using ICC profile are provided to allow a display device to perform color correction using color information of an input device. CONSTITUTION: An MPEG-2 digital image transmitting system includes a camera image input unit(110) for photographing an actual image and converting the image into a video signal, an MPEG-2 video compressor(120) for compressing the video signal into an MPEG-2 image, and an ICC profile generator(130) for receiving characteristic information of the camera to generate ICC profile. The system further includes a stream synthesizer(140) for synthesizing the compressed video signal and the ICC profile into one stream signal, and a transmitter(150) for transmitting the stream signal through a network.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for extending linear color gamut of a color device are provided to linearly extend color gamut when relatively narrow color gamut is converted into a relatively wide color gamut, to improve picture quality. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for extending linear color gamut of a color device includes an input color coordinate converter(210), a color gamut extension unit(220), a color gamut storage unit(230), and an output color coordinate converter(240). The input color coordinate converter receives red, green and blue color coordinates from a color device(100) with narrow color gamut to convert the color coordinates into color coordinates of luminance, chrominance and hue. The color gamut extension unit extends color attributes of luminance, chrominance and hue according to linear extension equation to convert the color attributes. The color gamut storage unit controls the color attribute information extended by the color gamut extension unit not to come out of a relatively wide color gamut device(300). The output color coordinate converter inverse-transforms the color attribute information into red, green and blue color coordinates to transmit the color coordinates to the wide color gamut device.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting colors of a scanner are provided to obtain video data having the same colors as those of an actual image in consideration of characteristic of the scanner using error reverse transmission. CONSTITUTION: Colors of a mother group are measured with a measuring instrument(S1). Sample colors are selected using the measured values of the colors of the mother group(S2) and the selected sample colors are scanned by a scanner to obtain sample color data(S3). A weight value that makes the difference between the result obtained by performing error reverse transmission of the sample color data and the measured values is determined. An actual image is canned using the scanner to attain image data(S9). The color data is corrected by performing error reverse transmission of the color data of the image data and weight value for each pixel(S10).

Abstract: PURPOSE: A device for compensating colors and a method the same are provided to compensate color distortion, caused by hardware characteristics of a digital camera. CONSTITUTION: A device for compensating colors comprises: color measurer for converting a spectrum of a color sample into a first reflectance value, by measuring a color value of the spectrum; a color compensator for deciding a color compensation parameter by using the first reflectance value, from the color measurer and values of Red, Green, Blue colors, and compensating the inputted values of the Red, Green, Blue colors from a digital camera by using the decided color compensation parameter; and a storage for storing the decided color compensation parameter. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video picture quality improving method and its apparatus using a motion picture recognition model. SOLUTION: For motion picture frames input, consistent conversion into color pictures is performed through apparatus characterizing work regardless of the apparatus. Parameters of the recognition model of the motion pictures extracted through a picture analysis are applied to every frame to perform picture conversion. The converted motion pictures are displayed on a device similar to a screen for showing broadcasting TV and movie pictures, and then data of comparison of colors, color sense and picture quality preference are collected through the specified number of observers for the displayed motion pictures. By using the collected data, media and contents adaptive digital video contents are produced to which the recognition model of the motion picture and valuation data of the observers are finally applied.
