Provided are an apparatus and a method capable of adjusting an upstream band for a corresponding ONU by detecting a quantity of bands occupied by a packet, not an effective user packet, among upstream transmission bands for each target object of allocation of each band in the optical line terminal (OLT) to check whether a queue report is normal and by detecting an ONU, which transmits an abnormal queue report, according to the check. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an OLT of a passive optical network (PON) includes: a frame monitoring unit configured to monitor upstream frame data received for each transmission container (T-CONT); an error detecting unit configured to determine whether a queue report error is generated for each T-CONT according to the monitoring result; and a band allocation controller configured to allocate an upstream band for an ONU, in which the queue report error is generated, separately from a normal ONU.

The present invention relates to an optical line terminal registering an optical network terminal including an overlapped serial number. The optical line terminal of the present invention comprises a memory storing serial number information of registered optical network terminals and a control part allocating a preset preliminary identifier to an overlapped optical network terminal and the serial number of the memory when receiving the serial number from the optical network terminals in response to a serial number request.

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for updating a terminal software. The method according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: providing software update start information including window size information and software image storage information for a plurality of terminals; receiving first response information from the terminals according to the provision of the software update start information; and providing software update information by the unit of a section for the terminals according to the window size information. PURPOSE: A passive optical network apparatus for transmitting optical signals is provided to promote band efficiency of uplink signals by changing a complex circuit into a simple circuit for transmitting and receiving the uplink signals. CONSTITUTION: An optical circulator(541) transmits a downlink signal inputted from a downlink optical trunk network to a wavelength distributer(542). The optical circulator transmits uplink signals inputted from the wavelength distributer to the downlink optical trunk network and a different uplink optical trunk network. The wavelength distributer distributes the downlink signal to plural wavelengths. The wavelength distributer connects the downlink signal to an optical distribution network. The wavelength distributer connects the uplink signal inputted from the optical distributer to the optical circulator.

PURPOSE: An optical subscriber network is provided to enable users to manage plural optical network terminals using a simple protocol, and to reduce the power consumption.
