Abstract: PURPOSE: An exhaust device for improving the output of an engine is provided to maximize the engine output by properly controlling the exhaust noise and back pressure characteristics via a valve selectively opening a second tail pipe. CONSTITUTION: A first tail pipe(2) and a second tail pipe(3) are separately formed in an exhaust pipe(1). A valve(4) for selectively opening the second tail pipe depending on the intensity of the traveling wind is formed on the lower end of the exhaust pipe. A valve body(5) of the valve blocks the inlet of the second tail pipe by entering the exhaust pipe. An operating rod(6) is hinge-coupled to the exhaust pipe. A fan-shaped closing part(9) is formed to connect the valve body with an isolating plate(10). A spring(7) is installed between the operating rod and the bottom face of the exhaust pipe to make the valve body block the inlet of the second tail pipe.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A device for removing condensate of an exhaust system is provided to effectively discharge condensate not only at a fast driving but also at a slow driving by varying the size of an orifice corresponding to the flexible pressure of exhaust gas according to the RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of an engine. CONSTITUTION: An isolating plate(30) is formed in the middle of an orifice pipe(24). A perforation hole(32) is formed in the center of the isolating plate. One side of the isolating plate is elastically supported by a spring(28) by inserting inside a guide(26). The size of the perforation hole is varied according to the negative pressure to be passed perforation the orifice pipe. The lower part of the perforation hole is inclined to be operated actively. Thereby, the corrosion of a muffler or an exhaust pipe by condensate is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A variable muffler is provided to achieve improved efficiency of noise attenuation by varying the exhaust flow in reaction to the engine operating condition. CONSTITUTION: A variable muffler(1) comprises a case(2), and is connected to an exhaust pipe through an exhaust gas inlet port(3) and an exhaust gas outlet port(4) formed at front and rear surfaces of the case, respectively. The variable muffler includes bimetals(9,10) which are formed by stacking inner plates(5,6) made of a material having a high coefficient of thermal expansion and outer plates(7,8) made of a material having a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The bimetals are arranged in front of the exhaust gas outlet port so that the bimetals are opposed with each other. Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for removing condensate water of an exhaust system is provided to prevent the corrosion of an exhaust pipe and a muffler by draining the condensate water in a rear exhaust pipe through an orifice and the condensate water generated by the muffler via a secondary air supplied by an air pump. CONSTITUTION: Front and rear exhaust pipes(21,23) are formed at both sides of a muffler(20). An orifice(24) for draining the condensate water in the muffler is formed at a portion of the rear exhaust pipe. A through hole(22) is formed in the middle of the front exhaust pipe to suck air for the removal of the condensate water collected in the muffler. A connecting pipe(25) is connected to the through hole and an air pump to send the residual air in the air pump to the front exhaust pipe when an engine is stopped. A valve(30) is formed at a lower portion of the connecting pipe to open and close the through hole. A return spring(40) is connected to one side of the valve to open the through hole by returning the valve to its original position when the pneumatic pressure supplied from the air pump is removed. The condensate water remaining in the muffler during engine operation is drained through the orifice. The condensate water generated by the muffler after engine stoppage is discharged by the secondary air supplied from the air pump.
