Abstract: The disclosed tamper-evident closure (100) encloses a medical access device (200), such as a vascular access device and includes an actuatable door (127) to create an optional access point (113) for accommodating various arrangements of medical access devices within the tamper-evident closure. The tamper-evident closure comprises a holding cavity (110), an access point into the holding cavity, an actuatable door covering the access point, and a hinge (127c) connecting the actuatable door to the holding cavity.

Abstract: The disclosed tamper-evident closure encloses a medical access device, such as a vascular access device, such that it will be visibly apparent if the medical access device contained in the tamper-evident closure becomes exposed. The tamper-evident closure cannot be reapplied over the medical access device in a way to look the same as it did prior to exposing the medical access device. The tamper-evident closures comprise a securing strap with a first securing strap portion secured to the first part of the tamper-evident closure, a second securing strap portion with a free end for securing to a second part of the tamper-evident closure, and an area of weakness separating the first securing strap portion from the second securing strap portion. The force to break the area of weakness is less than the force to separate the securing strap from the first part or second part.

Abstract: A sample collection device includes a planar sheet of material having opposing edges and a first major surface and an opposing second major surface, the planar sheet of material having at least two fold lines. A porous sample collection media has at least three edges and opposing major surfaces, at least one edge is fixed to the first major surface of the planar sheet of material. The planar sheet of material is configured to form an airflow channel by fixing the opposing edges together, the airflow channel extends from a mouthpiece end to an air outlet end. The porous sample collection media substantially occludes the airflow channel between the mouthpiece end and the air outlet end.

The sample collection device further includes a porous sample collection media disposed within the housing and in fluid communication with the fluid channel. The sample collection device further includes a fluid inlet port disposed in fluid communication with the porous sample collection media. The fluid inlet port is configured to direct a test fluid onto the porous sample collection media. The sample collection device further includes an assay configured to receive a fluid that was incident on the porous sample collection media.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cap configured for removable attachment a medical device. The cap has a body with an opening, a bottom, and a chamber defined between the opening and the bottom. The cap has a male post in the chamber and projecting from the bottom towards the opening of the body. The cap has a wall of the chamber comprising a thread originating proximate the opening and extending into the chamber, wherein the male post is spaced from the wall and at least a portion of the thread having a height that increases as a function of increasing distance from the opening. The movable piston positioned about the male post. Further, within the cap is a liquid disinfectant in the chamber between the bottom of the body and the movable piston.

Abstract: A liquid applicator comprising an absorbent member, and a single-piece, unitary body. The body can include a closed container defining a reservoir, and a tab. The main portion, the transition portion, the rib, and the chamber can each define a portion of the reservoir, and at least the main portion, the transition portion, and the rib can have a uniform wall thickness. The tab can include the chamber and can be coupled to the transition portion at least by the frangible connection, the tab being movable with respect to the transition portion between a first position in which the frangible connection is intact and a second position in which the frangible connection is fractured.
