Abstract:
An adhesive composition is described comprising a tertiary amine- and hydroxyl-functional (meth)acrylate copolymer and a styrene/maleic anhydride crosslinking agent, which when crosslinked, provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles.
Abstract:
Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are described comprising at least one low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer typically has a Tg no greater than 10° C. In some embodiments, the composition comprises at least 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70 wt-% of low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer is typically an alkyl (meth)acrylate comprising 4 to 20 carbon atoms. In another embodiment, an adhesive composition is described comprising a syrup. The syrup comprising i) a free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer; ii) a solute (meth)acrylic polymer comprising polymerized units derived from one or more alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers, and iii) at least one silsesquioxane polymer crosslinker comprising a plurality of ethylenically unsaturated groups. The free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer, polymerized units of the solute (meth)acrylic polymer, or a combination thereof comprise a low Tg ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and method of preparing adhesive articles.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions and articles containing the adhesive compositions are provided. In some embodiments, the adhesive compositions can be positioned adjacent to biological surfaces such as skin. For example, articles are provided that can be used in wound dressing or that can be used to stabilize and/or affix a medical device or medical instrument to a patient.
Abstract:
An adhesive composition is described comprising a tackifier and at least one grafted isobutylene copolymer. The grafted isobutylene copolymer has the formula: R1—(R2—Z) wherein R1 represents an isobutylene copolymer, R2 is a covalent bond or multivalent alkylene or arylene, and Z is a grafted polymer. Z is typically a homopolymer of copolymer comprising alkene repeat units, aralkylene repeat units, or a combination thereof. Also described are adhesive coated articles, methods of making adhesive coated articles, and grafted isobutylene polymers.
Abstract:
Adhesive composition are described comprising the reaction product of at least one halogenated copolymer of isobutylene wherein halogen atoms of the copolymer are replaced by a polyamine having a melting point greater than 25° C., thereby crosslinking the copolymer. The isobutylene copolymer comprises halogenated repeat units derived from isoprene, butadiene, para-alkyl styrene, or a combination thereof. The adhesive composition comprises a copolymer of isobutylene repeat units and second repeat units selected from alkene repeat units, para-methyl styrene repeat units, or a combination thereof wherein at least a portion of the second repeat units are directly bonded to one another with a polyamine crosslinker having a melting point greater than 25° C. Also described are adhesive articles, such as tapes, comprising such adhesives.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions are provided that include a crosslinked silicone gel, a hydrophilic component dispersed in the silicone gel, and an antimicrobial agent dispersed in the silicone gel. The adhesive composition is readily applied to (and removed from) skin, and has desirable hydrophilic and antimicrobial properties. Advantageously, the hydrophilic component in the crosslinked silicone gel is not readily extractable (e.g., into a pH 7 buffer). Surprisingly, the combination of hydrophilic component with antimicrobial agent in the crosslinked silicone gel can provide a synergistic level of antimicrobial activity.
