Abstract:
Adhesive composition are described comprising the reaction product of at least one halogenated copolymer of isobutylene wherein halogen atoms of the copolymer are replaced by a polyamine having a melting point greater than 25°C, thereby crosslinking the copolymer. The isobutylene copolymer comprises halogenated repeat units derived from isoprene, butadiene, para-alkyl styrene, or a combination thereof. The adhesive composition comprises a copolymer of isobutylene repeat units and second repeat units selected from alkene repeat units, para-methyl styrene repeat units, or a combination thereof wherein at least a portion of the second repeat units are directly bonded to one another with a polyamine crosslinker having a melting point greater than 25°C. Also described are adhesive articles, such as tapes, comprising such adhesives.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions comprising a copolymer of isobutylene repeat units and alkene repeat units are described. At least a portion of the alkene repeat units are bonded to a pendent nitrogen atom of a quaternary ammonium salt comprising a free-radically polymerizable substituent. The adhesive optionally comprises other components such as tackifier, unfunctionalized polyisobutylene polymer, plasticizer, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
The disclosed conformable coating provides a highly durable and resilient film useful for protecting and repairing surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. The coating comprises 0.1% to 65% wt. of a polymerized cyanoacrylate monomer and at least 35% wt. of an elastomer phase. The conformable coating composition comprises a polymerizable cyanoacrylate monomer, an elastomer, and a volatile liquid. The cyanoacrylate monomer is 0.1 to 65% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, the elastomer in an elastomer phase is at least 35% wt. of the nonvolatile portion, and the volatile liquid is at least 40% wt. of the total composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a curable silicone composition for preparing release layers and pressure sensitive adhesives, and to substrates bearing a layer of the cured composition. More specifically, this invention relates to a silicone composition, curable in the absence of both catalysts and actinic radiation comprising a cyclic anhydride copolymer and an amine-terminated polysiloxane.
Abstract:
A siloxane-functional isobutylene copolymer and use thereof is described. The copolymer is of the formula: wherein a is at least 20, and at least one of b and c are at least one, X is oxygen or nitrogen; R1 is a covalent bond or a divalent (hetero)hydrocarbyl group; Sil is a polydialkylsiloxane; and x is 1 or 2.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an ionically crosslinkable composition comprising a (meth)acrylate copolymer component having pendant acid functional groups and pendant photobase functional groups. On exposure to light, the pendant photobase group photolyzes to provide a pendant amine group, that ionically crosslinks the copolymer.
Abstract:
The disclosed conformable coating provides a highly durable and resilient film useful for protecting and repairing surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. A conformable coating composition comprises an elastomer, a volatile liquid, wherein the volatile liquid is at least 40% wt. of the total composition and the composition has a viscosity less than 1,000 cps. Disclosed is a conformable film that comprises an elastomer on a substrate, wherein the coating weight is from 1 to 30 mg/in 2 , and wherein the film has less than 75% failure at 100% elongation.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides pressure-sensitive adhesives and adhesive sealants prepared from amine-modified, crosslinked isobutylene copolymers, and tape articles prepared therefrom.
Abstract:
Disclosed are copolymers which comprise: a) an isobutylene copolymer having grafted polymer groups, b) optionally a tackifier, and c) optionally a non-functionalized poly(isobutylene) polymer. The compositions are useful in adhesives and coatings.
