Abstract:
A wound dressing material comprises first and second wound-contact scrims, and an antimicrobial layer disposed therebetween. The wound-contact scrims comprise water-sensitive fibers comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units. The wound dressing material may be contacted with an exposed surface of a wound. A method of making the wound dressing material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A securement system for securing a multi -lumen medical article. The system can include a patch, and a longitudinal flap. The flap can include a fixed proximal portion that is fixed with respect to the patch; a hinge; and a free distal portion movable via the hinge with respect to the patch and the fixed proximal portion of the flap between an open position and a closed position. The hinge can include a lateral width that is less than a lateral width of the patch and less than a lateral width of the flap. The hinge can be dimensioned to be received between two adjacent proximal tubings of the medical article, e.g., to provide a longitudinal stop to the medical article. The free distal portion can be configured to secure at least the multi-lumen joint of the medical article to the patch.
Abstract:
Compositions for treating a biofilm comprising viable microorganisms are provided. The compositions include a suspending medium, a bioactive glass comprising B 2 O 3 , and an effective amount of an antimicrobial compound selected from the group consisting of antimicrobial biguanide, quaternary ammonium compound, silver or copper deposited as a coating on the surface of the bioactive glass, and antimicrobial lipid component. Methods of treating a biofilm or a surface with the compositions are also provided.

Abstract:
A method of making a multilayer all-ceramic dental appliance. A first article can be formed of a first material based on a first digital surface representation having a desired outer shape of the dental appliance. A portion of the first article can be removed to form an outer layer comprising a cavity dimensioned to accommodate an inner layer. A second article can be formed by filling the cavity of the first article with a second material. The second article can be further processed, as desired. For example, a desired inner shape can be formed in the second article. Such a desired inner shape can be based on a second digital surface representation of a dental object configured to receive the dental appliance. At least one of the first article, the outer layer, and the second article can be fired, for example, while still being coupled to a support.
Abstract:
Substituted saccharide compounds, dental compositions comprising substituted saccharide compounds, and methods of using dental compositions are described. In one embodiment, the substituted saccharide amide compound comprises a hydrophobic group and at least one free-radically polymerizable group with the proviso that the hydrophobic group is not bonded to the ethylenically unsaturated carbon atom of the free-radically polymerizable group. The hydrophobic group is typically bonded to a nitrogen atom of a saccharide amine residue or a carbonyl moiety of saccharide amide residue.
Abstract:
The invention features a dental mill blank constructed from an uncured, self-supporting, hardenable organic composition. The invention also provides a method of making a dental appliance. The method involves machining an uncured dental mill blank into an uncured shaped article and then at least partially curing the shaped article. The shaped article may be cured in multiple steps with or without additional machining steps in between the curing steps.
Abstract:
Dental crown forms and methods of using them are disclosed. The dental crown forms may include one or more of the following features: a handle attached to the dental crown form at a location removed from the base of the dental crown form; a vented handle through which excess amounts of hardenable dental material can pass during placement of the crown form; and one or more lines of weakness that may be separated to remove a dental crown form from hardenable dental material after placement of the filled crown form. The dental crown forms may also be located in packages with hardenable dental material located within the dental crown forms as packaged.
Abstract:
Compositions, particularly for forming dental products, having a hardenable self-supporting structure with sufficient malleability to be subsequently customized into a second shape and then hardened, and methods.
Abstract:
A wound dressing material comprises: a first water-sensitive film comprising a first copolymer comprising first divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and first divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units; and a first antimicrobial layer disposed on the first water-sensitive film. Methods of making and using the wound dressing material are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Coextruded polymeric netting having a machine direction comprising: a plurality of pairs of: first segments each having first and second opposed major surfaces and a thickness, the first segments comprising first material; second segments comprising second material, wherein adjacent first segments are joined together via a second segment, wherein the second segments extend from the second major surface past the first major surface of each first adjacent segment and has a distal end, the second segments having first and second opposed major surfaces, wherein there is a gap between adjacent second segments; and a third material, different from the first and second materials on at least one of the first or second major surfaces of at least every other second segment, wherein the first segments, second segments, and third material each extend continuously for at least 5 mm in the machine direction, and wherein first and second materials of adjacent pairs are periodically bonded together in the machine direction. Uses for coextruded polymeric articles described herein include fasteners.
