    Abstract: A printing ink comprises, as pigment, the dye having the formula together with hydrated alumina and linseed oil varnish. (The dye is described in Specification 326,487.)ALSO:Pigmented materials and mixtures contain as a pigment the dye having the formula (This dye is described in Specification 326,487.) The material which is pigmented may comprise a natural or synthetic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyacrylonitrile, polyethylene terephthalate, polyurethane, rubber cellulose and cellulose acetate. Examples describe the preparation of pigmented polystyrene (and copolymers of styrene with acrylonitrile and butadiene), polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride, the latter also having incorporated therein diisooctyl phthalate and titanium dioxide; a composition for priming wood comprising the dye and a copolymer of styrene and an unsaturated polyester resin together with cobalt naphthenate and silicone oil solutions, the copolymer being obtained by polymerizing in the presence of cyclohexanone peroxide; a lacquer containing the dye in a stoving enamel comprising a urea-formaldehyde resin; and a printing ink comprising the dye in a solution consisting of low viscosity, alcohol-soluble nitrocellulose, dibutylphthalate, ethyl alcohol and ethylene glycol.

    Abstract: Anthraquinone dyes, which contain attached to the anthraquinone ring system via O, S or preferably N at least one aryl radical which bears at least one sulphonamide group which is unsubstituted or monosubstituted on the sulphonamide nitrogen or which bears at least one sulphonamide group bearing two aminoalkyl radicals on the sulphonamide nitrogen, are prepared by sulphochlorination of an appropriate starting compound, e.g. 1-amino-4-anilinoanthraquinone-2-sulphoni acid, followed by reaction with a suitable amine, e.g. methylamine. Many dyes are specified typical of which have the following formulae:- ALSO:Textile materials are dyed and/or printed by treating them, if necessary at elevated temperature, in the presence of an alkaline reacting agent with at least one uncoloured polyfunctional compound capable under alkaline conditions of effecting wash fast fixation on cellulose fibres of dyes containing reactive hydrogen atoms, and with one or more anthraquinone dyes which contain, attached to the anthraquinone ring system via O, S or preferably N at least one acyl radical which bears at least one sulphonamide group which is unsubstituted or monosubstituted on the sulphonamide nitrogen or which bears at least one sulphonamide group bearing two aminoalkyl radicals on the sulphonamide nitrogen. The textile materials are preferably of natural or regenerated cellulose but may be of cellulose acetate, acrylointrile polymers and copolymers, polyesters, polyamides, wool or silk. The fixation of the dyes in the presence of a number of specified inorganic and organic alkaline reacting agents may be achieved at 15-30 DEG C. but is preferably effected by steaming or dry heating at 30-200 DEG C. for about 5-10 minutes. The dye, polyfunctional compound and alkali may be applied to the textile material successively and in any sequence but they are preferably applied simultaneously by an exhaustion, padding or printing process. The said dye compositions may further contain dispersing agents and/or dyeing and/or printing auxiliaries. Examples are given of the dyeing and printing of textile fabrics of cellulose in which the polyfunctional compound is hexahydro-1, 3, 5-triacryloyl-s-trizine and wherein a number of anthraquinone dyes are specified.
