    Abstract: PURPOSE: To perform thermal transfer printing near a necessary characteristic profile by using an azo dye represented by a specific general formula. CONSTITUTION: An azo dye represented by a formula I (wherein R is a hydrogen atom, amino group, or hydroxyl group, R is a hydrogen atom, acetyl group, or carbamoyl group, R is ω-phenoxy-, or ω-tolyloxy-, ω-benzyloxy-, R , R are each a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, cyano group, nitro group R is 1-12C alkyl group, ω-phenoxy group, ω-triloxy group, ω-benyloxy group, R is 1-12C alkyl group, R is a hydrogen atom) is used, and transferred by a diffusion from a support to a substrate covered with a plastic by using a thermal head. The dye is easy thermal transfer, improved migration, high light resistance, good resistance fore against moisture and chemical drug irrespective of its relatively higher molecular weight than a yellow dye used for thermal transfer printing.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To upgrade color developing of red and yellow colors by using a specific azo dye. CONSTITUTION: An azo dye represented by a formula I is used, wherein X is represented by a formula II or III, wherein R is a hydrogen, 1-6C alkyl group or 4-4C alkyl 1-2C alkoxy as substituentes, or a phenyl group which may contain chlorine, bromine or a cyano, R is a hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or a group representing a chlorine or bromine, K is a radical of a coupling component (H-K) of aniline, aminonaphthalene, pyrazole, diaminopyridine, hydroxypyridone or tetrahydroquinoline series. Thus, good red and yellow color developing can be executed in a thermal transfer printing near a required characteristic profile.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance thermal, photochemical and chemical stabililities with easy thermal transfer by thermally transferring azo dyes containing a coupling component with a diaminopyridine as a base on a paper covered with a plastic from a substrate. CONSTITUTION: Azo dyes represented by one or several types of general formulae I are transferred from a substrate to a plastic coated paper by diffusion with an aid of a thermal printing head. A residue D of a formula I is derived from a diazo component. First, the dye is treated in a printing ink together with a binder in an organic solvent such as a suitable chlorobenzol or the like. An inert substrate is coated with it, and dried. Then, the dye is transferred from the substrate onto the paper covered with thermally stable plastic as a dye receptor layer by using a heating head for heating at 300 deg.C or higher, and the dye is diffused in the receptor layer. From a test result, this method exhibits an easy thermal transferability and yet small migration of the dye at the ambient temperature and further high thermal, photochemical and chemical stabilities.
