Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of esters of the 3-pentene acid by which alkoxybutenes are carbonylized in the presence of a catalyst and solvent at elevated temperature and pressure. These esters are intermediate compounds for the preparation of adipinic acid, caprolactam and caprolactone.
