    Abstract: Prepn. of 3-isopropyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4-one-2,2-dioxide salts (A) of formula (I; Q = NHR1R2R3) comprises reacting 3-isopropyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4-one-2,2-dioxide of formula (IIa) with an amine of formula NR1R2R3 (IIIa) in an organic solvent. R1-R3 = H or lower (hydroxy)alkyl. Also claimed is the prepn. of salts (B) of formula (I; Q = NR1R2R3R4) by reacting (IIa) with (IIIa) or an ammonium salt of formula (NR1R2R3R4ÜnX (IIIb) in a solvent that is practically immiscible with water, opt. in the presence of water; and extracting (I) with water. R4 = as R1; X = the anion of an acid with pKa greater than 4 or esp. the OH ion; n = the charge on X. Also claimed is the prepn. of (B) by reacting (IIa) with (IIIb), or (I; Q = Na) with an ammonium salt of formula (NR1R2R3R4ÜmY (IIIc), in water. Y = the anion of an acid; m = the charge on Y.
