    Abstract: The biocide composition comprises; (A) polymers containing in copolymerised form: (a) 0.1 - 100 mol% vinylamine units or ethyleneimine units; (b) 0 - 99.9 mol% units of at least one monomer selected from N-vinyl carboxylic acid amides of formula (I), wherein R1, R2 is H or C1-C6 alkyl, vinyl formate, vinyl acetate, vinyl propionate, vinyl alcohol, C1-C6 alkyl vinyl ether, monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acids, their esters, nitriles, amides and anhydrides, N-vinylurea, N-vinylimidazoles and N-vinylimidazolines; and (c) 0 - 5 mol% units of monomers with at least two ethylenically unsaturated double-bonds; wherein the sum of (a) and (b) and (c) amounts to 100 mol%; and (B) aminoisothiazoles of formula (V) wherein R is H or C1-C4 alkyl and X is halogen, NO2, CN or SCN.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the use of mixtures of (A) polymers and aminoisothiazols (B) in addition to the metal complexes and acid additive salts thereof as biocides.     Abstract: A method of reducing the level of bacteria and viruses in a volume of water during aquaculture comprises:-(a) providing the volume of water to be stocked with farmed aquatic organisms or eggs thereof; (b) prior to the stocking, introducing into the water an aqueous solution of glutaraldehyde in an amount such as to provide in the water from 0.1 to 2 ppm of glutaraldehyde; (c) stocking the water with the farmed aquatic organisms or eggs thereof at a time when the concentration of glutaraldehyde is 0.1 to 2 ppm. (d) allowing the farmed aquatic organisms or eggs thereof to grow; and (e) optionally during a period of the growth, introducing into the water at least one further portion of an aqueous solution of glutaraldehyde in an amount such as to maintain the concentration of the glutaraldehyde at 0.1 to 2 ppm.
