Abstract: A nitrous oxide (N2O) removal catalyst composite is described, which includes: a N2O removal catalytic material on a carrier, wherein the catalytic material comprises a platinum group metal (PGM) component on a ceria-containing support having a single phase, cubic fluorite crystal structure. The catalytic material is effective to decompose nitrous oxide (N2O) to nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2) and/or to reduce N2O to N2 and water (H2O) and/or (CO2) under conditions of an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine operating under conditions that are stoichiometric or lean with periodic rich transient excursions. Methods of making and using the same are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to diesel oxidation catalyst compositions and catalyst articles, wherein the compositions and articles include a plurality of platinum group nanoparticles substantially in fully reduced form, wherein the nanoparticles have an average particle size of about 1 to about 10 nm and at least about 90% of the nanoparticles have a particle size of +/- about 2 nm of the average particle size. Such compositions can further include a refractory metal oxide material, wherein the nanoparticles and refractory metal oxide material can be combined within the same coating on a substrate or can be applied sequentially on a substrate. The nanoparticles can advantageously be substantially free of halides, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, sulfur compounds, and boron compounds. Methods of preparing and using such compositions and catalyst articles (e.g., for the treatment of diesel exhaust gas streams) are also provided herein.

Abstract: A diesel oxidation catalyst composition is provided, the composition including at least one platinum group metal impregnated onto a porous refractory oxide material in particulate form and at least one base metal oxide impregnated onto a porous refractory oxide material in particulate form, wherein the porous refractory oxide material impregnated with at least one platinum group metal and the porous refractory oxide material impregnated with at least one base metal oxide are in the form of a mixture or wherein the at least one platinum group metal and the at least one base metal oxide are impregnated on the same porous refractory oxide material. The diesel oxidation catalyst provides synergistic enhancement of carbon monoxide oxidation as well as relatively unimpaired hydrocarbon oxidation. Methods of making and using the catalyst composition are also provided, as well as emission treatment systems comprising a catalyst article coated with the catalyst composition.
