Abstract:
The invention relates to energy absorbing, water blown, rigid polyurethane foams. The foams of the present invention are low density, predominantly open celled foams which exhibit a relatively constant consistency of compressive strength over deflection. Such foams are suitable as light weight alternatives in traditional energy absorbing applications.
Abstract:
Rapid production of honeycomb sandwich structures containing fiber-reinforced or non-reinforced thermoplastic honeycomb (1) adhered to skins or facing sheets (2) is accomplished by fusion bonding the skins or facing sheets (2) to the core (1) by means of thermoplastic film(s) (3) heated to the melt temperature (4) and applying sufficient pressure (5) fusion bond the skins or facing sheets to the core, followed, when necessary, by cooling the assembly (6) to prevent overheating of the core and/or skins or facing sheets.
Abstract:
Fiber-reinforced thermoplastic honeycomb (2) is prepared in a continuous manner one half cell at a time with the aid of formers (1, 4) by laying down a corrugated web of thermoplastic, selectively fusing the node-antinode demes, retracting the lowermost set of formers (1, 4), raising the formers by an amount at least equal to the thickness of the fused node-antinode surface, and repeating the process until a honeycomb of the desired depth is prepared. During at least a portion of the continuous manufacture, a thermoplastic web is utilized which has different characteristics from the webs utilized in the remaining portion of the process or the steps of laying down a corrugated web and fusing the demes are repeated without retracting and raising the lowermost set of formers so that a honeycomb material having areas or volumes possessing different physical properties than the remainder of the honeycomb is produced.

The composition may be provided with a plant growth regulator comprising a substituted oxime-ether of formula (I) or (II), where R1 and R2 independently of one another are C1-C6-alkyl, n is 2 or 3 and R3 is hydrogen or C1-C6-alkyl. The compositions provided may also contain a blend of nonyl phenol ethoxylate and dioctyl sulfosuccinate. Also provided are methods of making the above compositions.
Abstract:
An acid-dye and coffee stain resistant carpet has sheath/core bicomponent face fibers affixed in a backing material and bound thereto. The face fibers have a core of a first polyamide component and a sheath which substatially or completely covers the core of a second polyamide component which is inherently chemically compatible with the first polyamide component. In an uncolored state, the carpet has a red drink staining depth of less than 15 CIE DELTA E units and a coffee staining depth of less than about 10 CIE DELTA E units.
Abstract:
Food compositions and methods are provided for non-fat and low-fat food compositions containing a polyvinylpyrrolidone. The food compositions contain polyvinylpyrrolidone and other ingredients such as food stabilizers. Preferred compositions are non-fried foods, which include dairy products, baked goods, salad dressings, and meat products. Specific food compositions include ice cream, muffins and pourable salads.
Abstract:
An electrodeposition method is described where a conductive substrate is immersed in an electrodeposition coating composition comprising, in an aqueous medium: A) a resin having a plurality of acid-salted primary amine groups, and B) a curing agent having a plurality of cyclic carbonate groups.
Abstract:
A longitudinally bisected storage drum (10) includes a pair of hemi-cylindrical drum segments (12, 14) each being formed by a pair of semicircular end panels (12a, 14a, 12b, 14b) which are joined to, and spaced-apart by, a side wall having a hemi-cylindrical wall section (12c, 14c) and a substantially rectangular planar wall section (12d, 14d). The planar wall section of one drum segment defines a longitudinally oriented re-entrant groove (14e) which unites with a longitudinally oriented tongue (12e) protruding from the planar wall section of the other drum segment. Therefore, when the tongue and groove are united with one another, an overall cylindrical drum structure will result. The closely adjacent planar wall sections of each drum segment establish a diametrical parting plane when the tongue and groove are united with one another while the hemi-cylindrical wall segments are provided with longitudinally spaced-apart and outwardly protruding pairs of roll stops (12g, 14g, 12h, 14h) close to this parting plane. Thus, by simply reversing the vertical orientation of bungholes (12j, 14j) formed in each of the upper end panels (e.g., by rolling the drum along its cylindrical side wall until it rests upon the other set of roll stops), the contents within the hemi-cylindrical drum segments can selectively be dispensed by positioning that segment's bunghole in the lower vertical position relative to the other bunghole.
