    Abstract: A diesel engine has a pulse generator (10) on the crankshaft producing reference signals (BM) and an inductive transducer (11) giving a signal (FB) initiated by fuel injection commencement The reference mark (BM) and injection commencement (FB) signals are respectively applied to the start and stop inputs of a counter (12) which is fed a counting pulse train (n) indicative of engine speed, thus the counter (12) represents the actual angle between reference and injection signals (BM,FB) and feeds to a comparator (14) which checks the angle against a threshold value. With normal diesel running the counter (12) has less than 20 deg.C between signals but with reverse rotation will have at least 40 deg.C between signals and if this is detected the comparator sends a stop engine signal.

The coil core is embodied by a pressure element and a valve needle in force-locking contact therewith. An annular permanent magnet is secured either on the pressure bolt or on the intermediate plate. This embodiment of an injection nozzle, as a so-called needle stroke transducer, is used when it is desired to ascertain the duration of injection and especially the onset of injection.

    Abstract: A controlling device for controlling the supply of gases into combustion spaces of a self-igniting internal combustion engine includes a control member for regulating the flow of returned exhaust gas and an air throttle for regulating flow of sucked in air. The air throttle and the control member are linked to pneumatic setting motors which in turn are controlled by pressure transforming means operating with a source of a reference pressure and a source of control pressure. An output of the pressure transforming means is provided with electrically controlled switching means which selectively actuate respective setting motors. The electric control of the pressure transforming means and of the connecting means is made in dependency on operational variables of the engine.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a correcting arrangement for a fuel metering apparatus of an internal combustion engine by means of which permanent offsets of the positioning control loop of the fuel metering apparatus of the internal combustion engine are corrected. This is accomplished in that at a specific load condition of the internal combustion engine, preferably in the overrun mode of operation subsequent to the idle speed control characteristic, the actually injected fuel quantity which is a diesel engine, for example, is preferably measured by means of the movement of the nozzle needle of the injection valve of the fuel metering apparatus, is checked to a known value, in the example cited preferably for zero value, and in that the result of this check is used to influence the control system of the fuel metering apparatus of the internal combustion engine.

    Abstract: A drive (17) is provided at the throttle valve (16) for adjusting this. A control unit (26) in the undisturbed operation of the engine activates an opening of the valve giving the full air flow cross section, and with disturbed operation activates a closing of the valve to give a reduced air flow cross section. The sucked in combustion air is throttled so much, that on one hand the engine runs more reliably at idling r.p.m. and on the other hand, with the supply of a certain amt. of fuel in the combustion cylinder (10) a specified r.p.m. is not exceeded. A monitoring unit (26) is provided for operational control of throttle drive. The throttle is effective in idling mode and after each start is only once effectively connected. A sensor (27) is provided for detecting at least the closed position of the throttle valve (16). Its output signal is fed to the monitoring unit (26), which gives a warning signal if this does not represent the closed position of the valve (16). The sensor (27) can be designed as a lambda probe, an exhaust temp. sensor or as an electric switch.
