Abstract: PURPOSE:To remarkably improve an icing performance by forming a foam rubber layer provided at least on the surface side of a tread with a foam rubber including a specific quantity of low temperature softener relative to a rubber composition containing a polymer at a temperature not higher than glass transition temperature and obtaining a specific average diameter of air bubble within a range of a specific foaming rate. CONSTITUTION:A foam rubber layer 10 composed of a foam rubber 11 and having independent air bubbles 13 is provided between both shoulder parts on the surface 3a side of a tread 3. The foam rubber 11 is a single or a polymer of natural rubber, polyisopropylene rubber, polybutadiene rubber or the like of a glass transition temperature not higher than -60 deg.C. The foaming rate Vs of the foam rubber 11 is preferably within 5 to 50%, and the average bubble diameter of its independent air bubbles is preferably within 5 to 150mum. 2 to 20 parts by weight of low temperature softener relative to 100 parts by weight of rubber composition is contained in the foam rubber 11. As a result, the dynamic modulus of elasticity and the internal loss of the foam rubber are adjusted and thus, an ice frictional performance, that is, a braking characteristic, driving characteristics and a cornering characteristic can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To greatly improve the driving properties, braking properties and steerability on iced roads without detriment to the braking performance on wetted roads, by providing a reinforcing rubber layer having a sea/island structure on the treated part of a pneumatic tire. CONSTITUTION:This pneumatic tire has such as structure that the following reinforcing rubber layer 10 having a volume of least 10% of the total volume of a tread is provided on the surface side of a tread 3. Namely, the rubber layer 10 is formed from a sea rubber part 11 and many island parts 12 scattered in the sea rubber part 11. The sea rubber part is composed of 100pts.wt. rubber component having a glass transition point of not higher than -50 deg.C and not less than 40pts.wt. carbon black. The island rubber part consists of powdered vulcanized rubber having an average particle size of not larger than 1,000mum, which is composed of 100pts.wt. rubber component having a glass transition point of not higher than -50 deg.C and not more than 30pts.wt. carbon black. The amount of said vulcanized rubber to be blended is not less than 5pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. rubber component of the sea rubber part.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an expanded rubber compsn. having excellent wear resistance, modulus, low-temperature wet frictional resistance and resistance to slip on ice, by providing randomly a fibrous material having a specified average length around the closed cells of a rubber blend. CONSTITUTION:An expanded rubber compsn. has such a structure that a fibrous material having an average length of 10-5,000mu which is 10-1,000 times as large as the average diameter thereof is randomly provided around closed cells. A raw rubber to be used is selected according to the use of the expanded rubber compsn. Examples thereof are natural rubber, polyisobutylene rubber, polybutadiene rubber, polybutyl rubber, etc. The fibrous material may be fibrous, rod-like or needle-like inorg. or or. materials. Examples thereof are those obtd. by cutting arom. polyamides, polyesters, rayon, etc. or inorg. fiber such as silicon carbide whisker, carbon, metal, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the most suitable vulcanization time to be determined accurately and exactry without damaging the tyre by using specified elements predicting the temperature distribution in a tyre at every minute time of vulcanization at the vulcanization process of the tyre in the guage direction of the tyre. CONSTITUTION:The step S1 where the temperature distribution in a tyre at every minute time of vulcanization in tyre vulcanization process is predicted in the gauge direction of the tyre, is regarded as the tyre shape of the part to be predicated in vulcanization. Boundry membrane layers are set at a mold, a tyre and outside the ejection of inner pressure medium, and each gauge corresponding to the tyre and the boundry layer is inputted, and then the temperature of the tyre before vulcanization is inputted. Next, the boundry temperature between the mold and the membrane layer and the temperature outside the ejection of inner pressure medium are continuously detected. Then, the heat diffusion constant of each member of the part to be predicted, and the average heat diffusion constant corresponding to shape of the gauge and the tyre pattern are calculated. Next, the temperature distribution in the tyre is predicted by a finite difference method or finite element method at every lapse of minute time DELTAt.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent unbalance in degree of vulcanization, by providing a heat insulation layer whose thermal conductivity is low and whose thermal expansion coefficient is less than a specific value on the inside of a mold in a vulcanizing mold which has been formed of a material having aluminum for its main ingredient and the thermal expansion coefficient of more than the specific value. CONSTITUTION:The titled mold possesses aluminum for its main ingredient and is formed of a material superior in thermal conductivity whose thermal diffusivity is more than 0.6cm /sec. a heat insulation layer 11 provided on the inside of the mold of a part which has to prevent partial overcure of an article to be vulcanized is composed of a nonthermal-conductive material whose thermal diffusivity is less than 1X10 cm /sec. With this construction, as a side wall part 8 which is located closet to an external heating part and is a thin part of a tire 5 is provided with a heat insulation layer 11 of ceramics whose thermal conductivity is low on a part coming into contact with the inside 1b of the mold, the side wall part 8 can be controlled so as to fall within a range of a predetermined degree of vulcanization, and unbalanced phenomenon in the degree of vulcanization can be eliminated at the time when the other tire part reaches the predetermined degree of vulcanization.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate mold releasing immediately after measurement of a Mooney viscosity and to enhance the accuracy of measuring a torque value by forming antislipping grooves of rotary die and a torque detecting die in different numbers of radial grooves in opposite surfaces, and arranging with specific overlapping rate. CONSTITUTION:A sample RS is contained in a hollow part Ch, and a rotary die 1 is rotated around an axial center Z to apply a shearing force. In order to prevent slipping of the sample RS, grooves G1, G2, G3 are respectively arranged on opposed surfaces 1S, 2S, 3S. For example, the groove width is 1-3mm, the depth is 0.1-0.5mm, and the number of the grooves is desirably 18 or more. In this case, the ratio G0/A of the total area G0 of the overlapped part of the grooves G1, G2 of the opposed surfaces 1S, 2S to the area A of the circular part in the circular part surrounded between two circles Co and Ci is called 'an overlapping rate R'. The rate R is varied as the rotary die rotates, and when the difference between its maximum and its minimum is DELTAR and a mean overlapping rate is RA, a mold releasability and a measuring accuracy can become compatible, if RA/DELTAR is determined to be 10 or more.
